I've recently just gotten back my MRI results and they're not exactly what I was hoping to see. I've torn my glenoid labrum (cartilage of the arm socket in the shoulder) from (if you imagine a circular clock) from the 7 to 10 o clock position which is about 25% of it. Was wondering if anybody had arthroscopic surgery before and could shed some light on what they knew about it, dangers, successes/failures etc?

I'm not sure what I want to do just yet - but it looks like I may have to give up my quasi-amateur baseball career a third of the way into my first season, haha.

hmmm Im not familiar with seeing this type of injury nor hearing about results of that type of surgery.

I know where the problem is just dont know if conservative care would be better or not.

GL on finding info out on this - and GL with the surgery if you go through with this.

I've had 4 surgerys on my right shoulder. 3 were scopes to clean out torn cartilage in the acromio/clavicular area, and the 4th was regular surgery to repair a torn rotar cuff. They all went well and recovery was fairly easy.

The kicker is that about 4 years ago I tore the biceps tendon on that arm and the docs did nothing. One said if I was Brett Favre then they would have done surgery, but being an old fart they just let it heal up and I'm fine. Just can't throw 100 mph fast balls anymore.

Good luck......get it repaired. If you don't it could come back to haunt you later on.

I had arthroscopic surgery on my right shoulder around 1995. They had to shave off some of the bone that was pressing down on nerves in my arm, causing real bad pain.
My doc was real good, in that he told me it would be more painful for about the 1st month after surgery then before, but that then it would get alot better. So he was honest and up front with me. I would ask your doctor what to expect. I couldn't move my arm one inch after surgery without bad pain. But like my doc said, as i recovered it got lots better.
At the 3 week point i was at the doc, he wanted to see how i was doing. I'm the kind of person that pushes things. Sometimes thats good, sometimes not. I pushed myself, and the doc told me to move my arm different ways. When he got done he said "You shouldn't have been able to do that so soon." I said "Well.....nobody told me that!" So he had me throw away the arm sling right there.
I honestly think you should have a heart to heart with your doctor, tell him your concerns and ask him what to expect. You will have alot better peace of mind.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : Turnovers rule, win the turnover battle, win the game.
packerfanoutwest (26-Jan) : well, he was
