all the packer fans . . . that turned there back on him.

You say we turned our backs on Favre as though we somehow owed him anything. Brett Favre is nothing more than a very highly paid entertainer who has been lucky enough to earn over a QUARTER BILLION DOLLARS playing a child's game during his tenure in Green Bay. We fans have graciously paid his salary year after year, and over the past 10 years he has given us a protracted stretch of slightly-better-than-mediocre performance.

But what does he do after a 13-3 season in which he made it all the way to the NFC Championship? He gets up on the podium and tearfully tells those same fans that he has nothing left to give, that he's done. Then barely four months later -- after the draft, and after training camp is already well underway -- he shows himself a liar by wanting to come back. So when the Packers tell him, "Sorry, buddy, that ship has passed," he has the gall to tell us that we have rejected him? Not no, but hell no. He initiated the divorce, and the Packers did well to hold the line. Only a wuss takes his wife back after she's ditched him for another man.

Now he's just another player on another team, in another conference, and while I don't wish him ill, I certainly won't be rooting for him. I'll be rooting for the Jets only insofar as it improves our draft pick in next year's draft, and no further.

Personally, i'm with Fin on this.
Favre's not a Packer anymore, so i really don't care how well or bad he does.
I'm a Packer fan.

Im with the both of you too Cheesey and Fin. We had to move on sometime, for better or for worse. I lost respect for Brett and his act too.

Hey, i know he had a couple bad games but no reason to go into hiding. Big week coming up.

I may be a bit cynical in thinking this, but I can't help but feel you just want them all back to keep on baiting the rest of us into arguments about Favre. They're probably on the Jets forums, so go look there and leave us with our Packers.

I don't understand why not really caring what the Jets do somehow gets interpreted as "turning my back" on Brett Favre. Turning my back would mean I am against him or hate him, which isn't true. The only reason i really care is for our draft pick. I would consider myself as "apathetic" towards how the Jets do. I care the same amount how the Jets do as i care abiut say, the Miami Dolphins. I watch the Super Bowl every year, but unless the Packers are in it, I don't get excited or care WHO wins it. To me, if my team isn't in it, it's just a football game to watch.

I'm always feeling kind of like the odd man out cause I'm one of the only ones who still idolizes Brett but am still along with all the other Packer fans. I totally understand people like Cheesey and Nonstop's point of view. It's strictly an opinion thing and where your heart leads you and that's something that can't be controlled by facts or common sense so I don't know why we try convincing others to our way of thinking about the situation. My hearts still with Brett and many of your are not. I don't see that as a problem either way I'm still a Packer fan and how others feel about Brett doesn't make me any difference. I have more a problem if others hate Rodgers cause he's the Packer qb and if we're all in the Packer family we should all be supporting him. That's the difference

My point is: Some of these people are using it to blame everyone BUT Favre for the "divorce", and as a free pass to blast the Packer MGMT, and even Aaron Rodgers. Heck, even the Packer TEAM. They refuse to look at all the FACTS of what happened. They seem to use every bad game, play, or throw as PROOF that Favre was the only reason the Packers ever even won a game in his time here. As if NOTHING else had anything to do with it. Then they act as if, just because we came CLOSE to going to the SB last year, that that was some kind of a guarentee that we would have won it all this year if Favre was here.
It's just not true.
THAT is what bugs me.
If people want to worship the guy, I don't care. But don't use it to try to tear apart the Packers.

I think we're on the same page Cheesey. Just like you said I don't care about others liking Favre or not cause I can see why they wouldn't since he's not a Packer. I just don't want to be attacked for still loving him just like others shouldn't be attacked for not caring about him anymore. I don't see why this has caused so much division on these forums cause I see it no different now as just cause I hate Manning I don't care if others love him. As long as a guys not a packer (in which case we should all love him) why should anyone care how a person feels about any other player. And so where clear I'm actually aiming this more at the Favre lovers then the people who don't care about him anymore
