After two games (three including the Giants loss last year), I am scratching my head at the play of our Wide Receivers. While approaching the deadline for the final roster, one point of discussion was that we have alot of depth at Wider Receivers. The implication is that other teams would envy having so many elite wide receivers. The other possibility is that we just have a bunch of #2s or 3s. Here are some thoughts:

Greg Jennings: A valid #1. Get him healthy.
Randall Cobb: From the looks of things, Jennings replacement.
Donald Driver: Consistent, but not the guy to look to to get separation or create a big play opportunity.
Jordy Nelson: Maybe last years stats were beyond his talent. I still think he is reliable but I question if he is a playmaker. Maybe I can't get over the fact that he is white.
James Jones: Guy is running out of chances.
Finley: TE but used as WR in many opportunities due to his athleticism. He will make some great plays but is far from reliable. His game play give him the Overrated label.

One other very important piece to the puzzle is Aaron Rodgers. Awesome QBs create great WRs. I notice that he has been throwing some zingers that, although they may be catcheable, some touch may have given the WR a better opportunity to complete the play. I don't know whether this was because he was nervous or because he recognized that he needed to get the ball fast before the D could adjust. I think the answer is a little bit of both.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

Greg Jennings: Elite as a Green Bay Packer. Would be elite on the Patriots. Wouldn't be elite on most of the other 30 teams.
Randall Cobb: Is gonna be one heck of a WR. Playmaker. Still wet behind the ears.
Donald Driver: Is playing his last year. He'll get 5 TDs this year as our #4 WR
Jordy Nelson: Is elite as a #2 WR. Not sure if he'll be elite as a #1 or not.
James Jones: He's wearing thin on me too
Finley: Overrated is an understatement

So as a group, yes, they're elite. Separately, no.

I still want to see what Boykin can do.

I wonder if there's something about the way Aaron throws the ball.

It's not just one guy having problems his passes.

I tend to agree with the assessments, just 2 quick added thoughts.

James Jones - I thought this guy would be a beast a few years back, now I just expect him to drop or fumble it if it goes his way. His SB drop was the last straw for me.

Finley - He can't seem to do anything after the catch, and I don't know where the hell his hands went since the AZ playoff game.

Yes, excluding Jones. He is awful and needs to go away. Cant believe how many drops he has.

Elite starters, as in Jennings and Nelson, yes.
Elite set of WR, as in the whole 5 or 6, no.

I think the Packers WR group clearly has good depth but they're not elite. IMO only Jennings and Nelson are on that starter level IMO. Jennings is on that edge of elite, where he can be. Cobb might be AFTER the ball is in his hands, but has a lot of work to do with routes and getting open against starting CBs. Nelson is very very very good at everything, but might not be great at any one thing.

As hard as Aaron Rodgers throws, i can understand some drops. It still amazes me how fast that ball comes out when he decides where to throw it.
Jones makes some tough catches, but seems to drop more of the "easy" ones.
Also, it seems this year AR's timing has been a bit off. If he gets that back, i think we will see more of last year's throws.
Also, the o-line hasn't been very good at pass protection so far. If that doesn't get better, i'm afraid that Aaron Rodgers might get.....i'm not going to even say it.
