I said this 2 days before Packers\Bears:

I say stay the course with Benson. It looked like he was close to getting through a hole and breaking one open a number of times, but our offensive line just isn't the best run-blocking unit right now. I think they'll pick it up as the Packers run more.

Even if it DOESN'T, still better than Ryan Grant. But I still think he'll hit holes harder and smarter soon, much like the improvement he made from game 1 to game 2. They went with more things he was comfortable with. It just takes time.

I'm hoping the solution is playing the Bears.

Benson said he was a little too impatient the first game. He sure looked better yesterday.

I'm hoping that Starks can get healthy and give some breaks to Benson without the team missing a beat.

And i also want to see what Green can do. We could have a real running game to go with the passing game, which of course would open up the passing game even more.

Bears game McCarthy mixed it up a lot better and called more runs from a regular formation.

The only run I disagreed with was sending Benson to the outside. Not a good idea. Benson doesn't have the speed to run outside.

Benson did OK on off-tackle and inside runs, but outside I'd like to see what Green can do.

Wow. We're in violent agreement. [aiee]

The best way to fix the running attack.

1. RUN THE BALL. Especially today with all the limitation put on practicing with pads and contact. In order to be a good running team, both the backs and the Oline need to have reps and get in sync. It seems to be even more important to run blocking to have full contact reps and live game reps.

2. Quit trying to run the outside stretch zone plays. We haven't been able to do it, well basically EVER. Our blockers always get beat to the edge by the defense. Probably because, if you are a defender, and you see the Oline slide step and start moving either left or right, you just have to run towards that side. There really are not any counter plays to protect against the defense just flooding the run side.

Even more than the defensive showing against da bears, I liked the job by Benson. He rushed hard and even better what his receiving. That was one of the knocks on him. He isn't a good receiver out of the backfield. Well, he did pretty well that game. And didn't look uncomfortable or ackward.

Keep Benson on the field, unless there is a 3rd and long.

As for Benson he seems to have more gas when he's playing his former teams. Let's see him play that way week in and week out.

Benson took a team friendly split contract.. Grant has been worked out a couple of times but not signed. One may draw the conclusion that Grant isn't willing to take a team friendly deal. That is spit balling on my part.. but I think money came into play here.

Apparently maybe there is a change of heart as he is in Detroit again looking today.

Thanks Pack93z.

I've been one of the few Grant supporters as I always thought he was underrated. Grant has always been quite good in the open field. I was hoping he'd be 100% for 2012. Wonder why he turned down the Lions. Weird.

Nerd - Benson isn't that bad at screens. Statistically, he doesn't do a lot of them but when I saw him play against da Bears, he looked OK. I too would like to see the other guys, but I'm all for doing screens with Benson as well.
