11 rushes in our SB victory. I love how everyone loves to use selective stats.

Now, back to the original topic.

Did we get the wrong RB with Cedric Benson? I've heard a lot of football fans say that he needs a certain amount of carries to get going. As a primarily passing team, Benson may have been the wrong guy to get.

I still haven't heard the true reason we haven't signed Grant. Did he ask for too much $$$? Or is Grant too injured to be any good? I'm guessing it's the latter.

I don't think we got the wrong RB at all. I just think McCarthy and or Rodgers aren't calling enough running plays, and the primary focus of our OL is pass protection, when it should be a balance of both pass and run blocking.

Grant fumbled in the NFC Championship game. He was also unavailable far too often due to injury, something the staff has harped on. So, I agree with your inclination on the latter with regards to them not signing him to a new contract. Maybe a combination of things (age, injury, loss of speed, the fumble, etc.)

I would love for our team to be rushing 25+ attempts per game...

...the Packers might have finally figured out their problems at running back. Their solution: second year man Randall Cobb.

You guys do know that we played agains the 49ers, right?

This is comparable to saying that we should play against the run on defense when we're playing the Patriots. There's not a single team that can run effectively, or at least for a somewhat decent YPG, against the 49ers. You only get one flukey run from time to time. That's it. They're ridiculous in their fundamentals on defense.

I suggest we stop complaining and see what we can do in the first four weeks. The Bears are quite a stout run defense on paper, as well. They didn't get tested in week 1, so there's little you can say about that, though.

Rock... I tried.. after we move the ball on the Bears with relative ease it will all be fine again.

My only concern with the tomorrow night.. how many points will we have to score to beat them.

Tice has changed the drop for Cutler to mostly 3 step drops.. meaning we better tighten up our coverage off the LOS.. if we can, I think we will be able to move Cutler in the pocket and we will have a good night. If not.. going to be a ping pong game.

We will run the ball on the Bears.

What does fixing it mean anyway? Benson's a battering ram. In the last five years he's gone over the 4.0 ypc mark just once. And that included four years of running behind, what looked like to me, a very underrated Bengals o-line. That works when you keep running him up the gut and tiring defenses out... Something I certainly don't want to see from this Packers team.

If I got McCarthy figured out a bit, he just wants someone who can keep the defense honest a bit. Someone who doesn't get negative yards and keeps the threat of the run alive... Even if it's at a 3.8 yards per carry as Benson has managed to get over his career. I don't think the running game will be "fixed" at any point this year. We'll just roll with what we got right now.

My solution to the rushing attack is pretty maddenesque/raideresque but I think we need some legitimate speed at the half back position. I'm tired of these slow bruising backs who try to run straight up the guts and fall over our o-linemen, the game has changed from the days where you have the big bruisers crashing through the lines, its all about speed at the running back position these days. e.g adrian peterson, jamaal charles, darren mcfadden, chris johnson.

Even if one of our backs was a Sproles, LaMichael James type it would also be a nice change of pace back. Only problem is there aren't many to go around. The backs we have now don't pose much more than a 15-20 yarder as a long gain, if that.
