Newhouse is the only one that's below average. He consistently allows rushers to beat him wide, even if it's their game he stands too far inside. He was very bad last year so lets hope that improves. He's got the skills.

He has the skill sets to be an above average OT, but doesn't do that for the whole game.

they have the potential to be an above average line. As Sitton showed last year. he did not play up to his potential. Same for Bulaga. There were times when he was abused by the defense. If the best two linemen have looked mediocre at key times during a game how much more the lesser linemen?
But as I said, unless they are "a Bear like sieve" it don't really matter. 2.5 seconds is all Aaron Rodgers needs.
My desire for the year is to never see Aaron run more than twice in a game and not for more than 10 yards. And only on planned a QB draw for a TD or fist down.

Here's a couple of snaps from around the web

PFF

After a tough rookie season, Bulaga showed that things had changed right out of the gate in his second year. He gave up a pressure but nothing more, as he had success against various members of the Saints’ defensive line. He also dominated every time he got to the second level against Jonathan Vilma and Co.

JS

Pro Football Weekly recently ranked Sitton as the sixth best right guard in football. Bulaga also was listed as the No. 6 right tackle in football.

The only teams to grade out higher were Baltimore and Philadelphia. Baltimore's Michael Oher was the No. 2 right tackle, while Marshall Yanda was the No. 4 right guard. Philadelphia's Todd Herremans was the No. 1 right tackle, while Danny Watkins was ranked the 10th best right guard.

Bulaga allowed just 1½ sacks, 2½ knockdowns and 14 hurries last season for a total of 18 pressures. As a rookie, Bulaga allowed 33½ pressures. Bulaga also was solid in the run game and lowered his penalty total from 10 to four.

I like our starting o line quite a bit. They are not perfect of course. Our problem has been left tackle health and experience.

I only saw about 3 minutes of one preseason game. So I will reserve all comment until after game 1.

I do have a question, though. Who is Don Barclay and should I be excited about him?

Don Barclay (December 26, 1892 – October 16, 1975) was an American actor. Aside from being a talented comic/character actor and dialectician, he was also a creative cartoonist. Recently discovered photos show him drawing caractures of two of "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man"'s lead stars, Ilona Massey and Lon Chaney, Jr. with one visitor to that film's set, Shemp Howard of The Three Stooges.

He portrayed Admiral Boom's first mate, Mr. Binnacle in Disney's family film "Mary Poppins". His character was a former naval officer and next door neighbour to the Banks family.
Selected filmography

That Little Band of Gold (1915)
Honky Donkey (1934) Barclay
I Cover the War (1937) Elmer Davis
Cinderella (1950) Doorman
Peter Pan (1953)
Alice in Wonderland (1951) Other Cards
One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961)
Mary Poppins (1964) - Mr. Binnacle

Actually Don is a rookie backup OT. Hopefully he won't be on the field too much this year. Prob will drop tot he PS when Sherrad is activated.

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson is gambling that for now he can go with just seven offensive linemen.

Thompson did not put in a single claim for any of the players who were available through waivers after the cuts teams made Friday night to get to the 53-man roster limit.

When asked about it Saturday afternoon during a news conference, Thompson was typically unfazed about the gamble, but indicated what you saw today might not be what you see tomorrow.

"That's where we are now," Thompson said. "There's obviously a certain comfortable level about what we do differently, but that's where we are now."

Normally, the Packers keep a minimum of eight offensive linemen and they have kept as many as 10 in some years. Going with seven - including undrafted rookie Don Barclay - could be a death sentence given injury considerations.

Aside from the five starters - Marshall Newhouse, T.J. Lang, Jeff Saturday, Josh Sitton and Bryan Bulaga - Barclay and veteran Evan Dietrich- Smith are the only backups. The Packers cut Herb Taylor, Tommie Draheim, Sampson Genus, Andrew Datko, Greg Van Roten and Reggie Wells during the past week.

In addition, they placed second-year tackle Derek Sherrod on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which rules him out for the first six weeks of the season and probably much longer, since he has yet to practice one play this year.

And, at the risk of stating the obvious...

Given the opponent, we should have a real good idea what we're in for with this OL after the first game.

Perhaps we should start guesstimating # of sacks/pressures SF will come up with?

Against the Niners, we're going to throw out a lot of 4 WR sets and force 🇦🇷 to get rid of the ball in 2.5 seconds. As good as their D is, they're gonna have problems. Our OL will hold.

The scary thing is we only have 7 OL. I think 🇲🇲 knows something about Sherrod that he's not disclosing. He'll be back week 6 (that's the PUP rule, right?) and might be 100% by then. That would be 8. Maybe 🇹🇹 has a deal with another OL FA in the works that we don't know about too.
