Yeah, it probably makes sense if we could get decent value out of him. If these young receivers (Gurley, Borel, Moss) are as good as they seem, the difference in production for a 4th-ish WR shouldn't be significant, and the Packer's would have another draft pick to play with next year. But honestly, it was anything less than a 4th, I'd rather just keep him. I'm not sure a 5th round pick would make much sense for a team that will be competing for the Super Bowl. One of two bad injuries, and the WR core looks a lot different.

He was the starting QB in college so they didn't ask him to play STs (and most coaches don't want their starting QB on STs)

I don't like the idea of getting rid of Jones. He had 600+ yards and 7 TDs last year.

Now, if you look at his TDs throughout his career, there are a lot of deep ones sprinkled in. We had the famous 79 yarder against that Bronco Pro Bowler (forgot which one) in 2007. Aaron threw him a 74 yarder in 2009. In 2010, Flynn threw him a 66 yarder. And last year, Aaron threw him a 70 and a 65 yarder.

Why are we so quick to get rid of players on this board? WTH?

Anyone have any knowledge of history? Anyone remember 2005? Anyone?

Jones = solid depth + one heck of a deep threat.

NOW, if he can only master those over the shoulder catches. LOL

I can't say I'm too hot on the idea of trading any of the WR's. The Packers bread and butter is passing, everyone sees it an knows it and no one can stop it. Trade one of the WR, suffer an injury at WR and suddenly you're struggling to have a mediocre WR and don't have any running game to balance it. I just don't see a glaring need that values that risk.

That is fine with me as long as they aren't putting another position at risk with too little depth - but that's impossible IMO. So, who carries the most trade value? Who could we afford to part with? Do we want to wait and just cut a player and get nothing in return?

Hey, if the coaches were behind this, the discussion could be about Jennings instead, and I would be fine with that too. If the staff evaluates the upcoming talent to be ready to step in and contribute at a high level, maybe that is a move that has to be considered. Do I want to get rid of Jennings? Jones? No. I like them all. This is strictly about numbers.

If the rumors are true, the Packers may be willing to move their backup receiver for the right price. Miami isn’t a team which likes to give up draft picks. But the Dolphins’ receivers haven’t impressed this offseason, which is a reason they jumped at the chance to sign 34-year-old Chad Ochocinco once he was released by the New England Patriots.
