If the only WRs stepped up enough, I could see them trying to save money, but I don't think they did... and teams probably aren't offering any more than the comp pick the Packers might get for Cobb (which I'm guessing a 4th or at worst 5th if he stays healthy and starts).

Plus if you can get outside WRs going, Cobb and Graham both in the slot (or TE) might be hard to stop. Or if Cobb can play outside and two TE sets.

I have to believe this is more about some teams inquiring then the Packers putting it out there. The timing just doesn't seem right. The receiver group is lacking veteran depth the way it is. They are a couple of weeks away from the season starting. The #3 and #4 wr spots are still unclear although it looks like Allison and Kumerow have the inside track for now.

How does that look then if Cobb is taken out of the picture? Seems very unsettled to me. The rookie wr's are what they are, rookies, albeit with talent and promise. Ideally they get worked into the picture but more than likely a year away from being able to rely on.

IMO if the Packers were interested in making this move it should have come before now and with more viable options available to them. I, for one, believe Cobb will have a solid year with the old OC and Rodgers back along with it being a contract year that certainly adds incentive for him.

I just take last year and throw it out the window. Hundley only looked for Adams or quick out patterns and never did get comfortable throwing to the middle of the field. With that setup it didn't matter if it was Cobb or somebody else. That position was not going to do much.

"Packers have received trade interest in wide receiver Randall Cobb, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). However, the Packers are not shopping him and expect him to be a contributor for them this season."

This from story from pro football rumors.

I'm always skeptical of ANY story posted by Packers Talk.

"Click Bait " Headlines are their specialty.

For you conspiracy theorists out there, the perfect place to get your Packer updates.

It’s hard to know what really is Mack’s motivation. If it’s JUST money, we don’t stand a chance.
If it IS a ring, maybe we have a shot.

Wouldn’t it be cool if he went home after tonight’s game as a Green Bay Packer?

I offer a first, at most. We’ll already be mortgaging our future cap, why give up our future drafts too? Or offer Cobb and Matthews straight up.
