Damn, can the season just get here, THE ONLY STAT THAT MATTERS IS THAT W-L STAT.

Packers were pretty good in 2011.

I know everyone is starved for football, and it's real easy playing Monday morning GM.

Bottom line is until some of you realize that THIS IS A TEAM GAME, you will continue to over-analyze every game, every play, every player.

The one thing I have never understood is how some of you root AGAINST certain players on YOUR team.

I know everyone has their favorites, but to blatantly rip on a guy just because, IN YOUR OPINION, isn't playing up to his draft position, or isn't earning his contract is total bullshit.

Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy decide who is or isn't going to be on the team, I say it every year, this year I'm gonna say it a little early.

Whoever ends up on the final roster, I would hope you as a Packer fan will back those players.

I know I'm just talking to myself here, but I gotta try.

I think the only play blatantly ripped on is Jarrett Bush. Even though the dude got an interception during the Super Bowl, something Charles Woodson failed to do. 🙂

Well, I'm just going to hold on to my faith in the "Carolina Boys" (DJ Smith and T. Manning) to be the SAVIORS at middle line-backer. Call me crazy, but I got hope, especially for Manning.

It’s not going to be anything fancy that helps Smith overtake Hawk. All he has to do is prove that he’s a vastly superior tackler.

I'm for any player that upgrades any position, but I don't think Hawk will be that easy to dislodge. Just a gut feeling. The above mentioned are some of the reasons and the staff seems to like him more than the fans. Staff wins.

If you have read my responses throughout this thread, you would have seen that I believe Hawk will be the starter throughout this season. I don't see the him being replaced by either Smith or Hawk. However, 2013 could be a different story. I'm hoping Smith, but even more so Manning, will have developed enough at that point to take over for Hawk because I wouldn't be shocked if he was no longer a Packer then. Sure, I could be wrong, but he will have to have a really good season for the Packer's to pay him what he is owed in 2013. I suppose he could be offered another extension that would reduce his single season cap hit, but I'm basing any assumptions off what's on the books presently. I'm not to speculate too far out.

Besides, Smith did a pretty good job filling in for Hawk as a rookie, although he could have been better. I don't have any reason to think he won't improve, but that's yet to be determined. I would be shocked if Manning makes much of an impact in his rookie season, if Bishop and Hawk stay healthy. I hope (and expect) he will develop into a solid or better player a year or more down the road.

How many rookie and 2nd year guys have been thrown into the fire before they are ready, only to fail and have their careers end before they ever get started?

I remember a couple of cb's the Packers drafted a few years ago (Carroll and Taylor?), coming out of college they both looked to have bright futures, but both were forced to start before they were ready and both suffered the consequences.

Everybody gets replaced,Hawk's time will come, but not because he "SUCKS" as so many here have said, it will be because (hopefully) one of these younger guys will get better than him, as of right now A.J. Hawk is The Packers best option at the position he plays.

IF they are both drafted the same year, but in rounds 4 and 6, how does experience play a factor? The Packers won't put a player in the starting position unless its absolutely necessary. The other options would have been exhausted already.

I just don't understand how a 4th rounder is unquestionably better than a 6th rounder. You bring up former players?

1st round - Antuan Edwards
2nd round - Fred Vinson
3rd round - Mike McKenzie

The only one worth a lick was the 3rd rounder. The point I'm making is let them settle it on the field, not where they were drafted.

The more likely scenario would be that Hawk will start the season opposite Bishop as starting inside linebacker. Smith will get his chance to play early in the season on some key plays and if he shows capable enough to handle Hawk’s responsibilities, he’ll play more.

beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
