Simply put... this reads like a writer stretching for a story. Probably using the movement of coaches between the ranks to try and link to this hypothetical move.
But the difference between college and the pros at the executive level differs substantially in terms of exposure, money and probably the worst of it.. the rules.
The NFL for the most part is very well defined about its rules.. the college level the NCAA deliberately allows gray within the rules to not only control the bowls, but more importantly the money. Rules are in constant flux and the NCAA seems to interpret them differently at will depending upon the school and the coaching staff.
Personally, I think the worst job in sports is being involved in oversee a college sports program.
Makes little sense for Murphy to consider the job, let alone display interest in the form of an interview.
As Foster noted.. he might have one of the most coveted jobs in sports.. a "de facto" owner without the investment risks.
