Do you think we'll take him back?

That said.. I think his climb back into the NFL might take some time. If Vick can come back after his prison term, I think Jolly should be afford the same rights.

But a what 29/30 year old defensive lineman that hasn't played in a couple of years.. I don't see him making an impact again. One shall see.

It would be interesting to see how the Packers handle it.. Koren Robinson comes to mind, trying to help a good person recover. Or so they publicly stated.

On a different note.. I was glad to read that he finally owned up that he had an abuse problem. No more hiding from that fact. Step one of fixing a problem.. acknowledging said problem.

Johnny Jolly is a Unrestricted Free Agent if allowed to play again in the NFL. Jolly is 29 years old as of this past February. I don't see the NFL allowing him back in. What he did was less severe than Michael Vick, but thing is, Jolly did it over and over and over again after being suspended initially. That shows little remorse for ones actions.

I hope he turns his life around. Addictions are not pleasant.

Edit, correction. Jun 15, 2010 Signed a 1 year $2.521 million contract with Green Bay (GB).

So now I had to dig a little on this contract topic, since Zero disagreed, and I am firmly in place with what I said.

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Report-Johnny-Jolly-begins-reinstatement-process.html

Jolly was busted with codeine in Houston and had to go through the court process. He signed a tender as a restricted free agent last spring. That contract will take effect once he is reinstated, per the report, meaning the Packers will have him for another season if they would like him.

Johnny Jolly does not have the vested time in to be a UFA and had signed a tender prior to playing it out.. nor do I think the Packers released his rights at all at this point. . So basically the above would hold true yet.

Now.. that said.. I don't see him playing ball here anytime soon if at all. One shall see I guess.

MM on Jolly.. March 2011.

On the status of suspended defensive end Johnny Jolly : “I’m trying to think the last time we talked about that. I really have nothing new. We haven’t discussed it since the combine. We’ve been in scheme evaluation. Ted and I haven’t talked about it in a few weeks.”

On if Jolly is still in the team’s plans?: “Definitely. We’ll let the process take its course and we’ll see what happens.”

I am not sure really on his status, but I do not believe I ever seen the Packers release his rights..

I think the Packers have him under contract, if they want him, if he is reinstated. Didn't play out enough years and had a binding agreement in place.

If he doesn't play.. we don't pay but neither does time off that deal.

My point of that matter is two fold:

One.. if he is reinstated, technically he would be a Packers.

Two.. if he is reinstated the Packers may have the trade rights of an empty paper bag at this point.

I can't find a transaction with the Packers releasing Jolly's rights.

Or is the edit to mean you think the Packers retain his rights? LOL.

Confused yet.. trying my best Foster imitation.

If he is still under contract, and I too believe he is... I would give him another shot at making this roster if the NFL gives him another shot and if he is able to get into game shape. He is a good kid with a sickness that can be beat (See Josh Hamilton)and only harmed himself. He was not out beating innocent people, or killing dogs.

By the way.. If he is under contract should this not be in the Packer Forum?

Edit, here's what I found in the transactions ...

07/16/2010 DE Johnny Jolly suspended indefinitely by NFL
06/15/2010 DE Johnny Jolly signed

Points can be made for him being a Packer as he signed an has not been released, but then again he's not on the active roster, doesn't count against the salary cap so ...

PFT

He and his lawyer have also argued that he is merely an addict who has never hurt anyone other than himself, and that he doesn’t belong in prison with dangerous criminals. The judge evidently agreed.

So, will he ever be reinstated? If so, will it be in time for the playoffs? And will he be any good?

Martha Careful (5-May) : Yes, in the military S2’s work on IPB, PERCEC, PHYSEC and IO
dfosterf (4-May) : FYI civilian companies swipe the S2 designation from the military. S2 is the intelligence branch up to brigade level. G2 is division level.
dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.

dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Matthew Golden spoke with Randall Cobb before draft. Looked like chance encounter.
