read this:

I really like how Al Harris (who was my fav packer) helped him get reinstated; helped his family pay some bills so his mother wouldnt lose her home and helped them stay on track ...
sometimes we need help in this world and there are actually decent people out there that help others.

I really wish we would of kept Harris for another season or 2.

I think this bit is a great example to potential free agents of the Packers. Check this out, this is how we do our team. We get each others back.

Nice article. It makes you wonder about the wisdom of the NFL drug policy and its total exclusion of the player from the team during a suspension. If it had a negative affect on Jolly I'm sure it has had the same affect on other players as well. Unless its the players and coaches on your team who are the bad influences is it the best idea to cut the player off from them and possibly force them to associate even more with the "bad crowd." Everyone needs friends and if you take away a large part of the good influences what is left.

Obviously every situation is different so I don't know how it could be done differently but it certainly warrants looking into.

Regarding zero's comments about how we get each others back. Its a nice sentiment and I know we would all like to think the Packers are special in that way but I'm not so sure that is the case. I'd be willing to bet that pretty much any player in a similar situation would be treated the same way on pretty much any team.

I think most teams would give a player like this the benefit of the doubt if there was still a chance he could play. To turn it around If JJ had hurt someone while on drugs or committed a robbery or something like that I doubt if the Packers would have given him another chance.

Even so, I guess I was referring more to the support he got from his team mates once he was given his 2nd (or was it his third) chance. I honestly don't think players are that much different throughout the league.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
