I'd offer to locate a tinfoil hat to sell you, but it's clear you own several already.

I believe we have recently posted an article that cites players having similar surgery and problems from it. I could be mistaken, however, I ask you this. What NFL Safety has had the same exact surgery and resumed his career without further damaging their spinal cord/neck area?

I believe the Packers are weighing a lot more into this decision than simply money. Why is it so hard to grasp that a decision can include something more than money?

I don't understand how anyone thinks anything but Nick Collins' health is being considered first in this decision for him to resume his role as a player on the Packers defense.

$3.5 million or Nick Collins ... seriously, THINK about that there. What is more important to the Packers?

It has to be about Nick Collins health. If he's not healthy, it's bad PR and lost money, aside from the main concern, the man's health!

I won't question Ted Thompson is cold hearted, but it's evident you're even more cold hearted than he.

The risk is higher for a S then a LB/lineman and THAT is something that is taking into consideration.

To say or insinuate Thompson and McCarthy don't care about Collins the man is dead wrong. They both love and care for Nick and his family. The concern for Nick IS about his long term health as a HUMAN not his playing career as a Packer. If they decide that it is to great of risk for Nick and the Packers to return to the field, they will reach an injury settlement with him, NOT cut him outright.

It is a business first and foremost and you have to that in mind. If you got hurt on the job, let's say broke YOUR neck and your job was extremely physical, and the company thought there was to great of a chance to re-injure your neck (with the possibility of making you paralyzed for the rest of your life), I am sure that they would take their time and try to make sure that EVERY AVENUE was crossed, including an injury settlement or a added part in your contract that stipulates the business has NO LIABILITY if you were to re-injure you neck and paralysis or death.

When the time comes to get more cap space, look for Clifton, Driver and others (maybe Woodson, Pickett and Nelson) to restructure their deals.

It's mostly about the money face it. Ted Thompson is cold hearted and is about money.

If he axes Nick who is going to take his place? There is no one on the roster who is able to do the job as well as Nick has done over the past 6 seasons. |

I think it is safe to say Ted cares about the franchise and winning titles more than money. Otherwise he could get a QB to take the snaps for a lot less money than Rodgers. He would not ax Nick solely on money issues when there is no one to take his place.

Yeah, Mike and Ted care about Nick. But they're not doctors. The doctors say it's ok. So what's the deal?

I could find a Dr. to clear him to play, that doesn't mean he should.

They (Ted, Mike and Nick's own agent) care about THE MAN not just the football player, that's why they want him to retire.

How hard is that for people to understand?

CB Samari Rolle confirmed to The Tennessean that he will officially retire after 12 seasons. Rolle underwent fusion surgery on his neck twice in less than a year, but had been waiting to see how his body would respond to football activity before making a decision on his future. "Being that I got to play 12 years and play in a Super Bowl, I got to do everything I wanted to do but didn't get a ring,'' Rolle told the newspaper. "I am OK with that. I honestly wish deep down I could've gotten to stay with one team my whole career, but it doesn't always work like that. But it is how it is. I had good people around me and very good coaches. I was fortunate. I have some great memories.'' (Updated 201057)

That's true but Rolle played 12 years. That takes it's toll on a body. Of course it's gonna be breaking down, he was that old.

I will also note that he was not paralyzed from the neck down, even though he re-injured the neck.

Why do I have a feeling we are going to see Collins traded before the draft. As far as Packers doctors i don't trust them at all, if you remember correctly the packer doctors failed Favre on a physical when he tried to come back but then a few days later after the trade he had an amazing recovery and passed the Jets physical.

Zero me calling Ted Thompson cold hearted is a compliment to him actually because you have to be to do his job.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

God forgive me for agreeing with Dave in any way when he gets in one of contrarian moods, but just this one time, he may possibly be on to something here. I too got a weird "vibe" from Mike McCarthy and his (imo) "quick-trigger" to go all conservative regarding Collins and his health/future. It could all be as described, a very sincere concern with a serious health risk, but I'm not totally convinced... Just too damn quick and too damn emphatatic from a a coach that is usually extraordinarily "close to the vest" when speaking on these injury questions. It did and does make me wonder, so, in an UNPRECEDENTED move on my part, 1 applause point for Dhaze for broaching the possibility. 😝

packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
    Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
beast (23-Dec) : Mucky, I thought the ad revenue went to the broadcasting companies or the NFL, at least not directly
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think the revenue share is moot, isn't it? That's the CBA an Salary Cap handling that.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : i mean game becomes irrelevant if we win tonight. Just a game where we are trying to play spoilers to Vikings chance at the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, I would guess ad revenue from more eyes watching tv
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (23-Dec) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I see what you did there Mucky
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : dammit. 3:25pm
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : Yeah baby!
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (23-Dec) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
    packerfanoutwest (23-Dec) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
    Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (23-Dec) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (23-Dec) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (23-Dec) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (23-Dec) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
