As I mentioned in the
other thread , Manning probably was Elways best way to get out of the Tebow trap he found himself in.. and just as important as a Healthy Manning is an upgrade to the offense on the field, it also provides an exit strategy on moving Tebow and probably short term keeping Elway employed with the Broncos and not getting pummeled by the fan base for eventually replacing Tebow.
Tebow was not Elway's guy.. but the perfect storm last season force Tebow upon the two John's. And they had success doing it.. hence the trap was set in full force.
This move, albeit a huge risk, gets them out of the pressure to develop and play Tebow.
Personally, I think it a mistake to move Tebow via a trade, but Elway is more than likely going to move him to end the potential of it coming back full circle.
I see this ending badly for both the Broncos and Manning, I hate to say it but I see health forcing Manning off the field prematurely and the fan base still coming back and looking to virtually lynch Elway for trading Tebow. Every time Tebow wins a game.. it will flare up again and again.
I see this as a “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.” type move.. borrowing time and hoping to have the two bits in the pocket come Tuesday so to speak.
Manning wins big.. Elway and Fox come out smelling like roses.. all other avenues probably lead out the door.
