The baby boomers brought America the entitlement mentality.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that whoever is to "blame", we are now on generation #3 of Entitlement America. Worse, we now have three living generations, and are starting on a fourth, who have a trivial number of people available to point out the fantasies and fallacies of social planning, social democracy, current Republican AND Democrat approaches to "policy-making". Indeed, we've declined so far that we fail to realize that "economic improvement through policy-making" is an oxymoron.
I agree with zombieslayer re: the overrated boomer music and the under-rated current music, too. Unfortunately, that creativity comes despite abysmal failure educationally over three generations. Neil Stephenson wrote way back in 1992 (Argh!!) (
Snowcrash): "There's only four things we do better than anyone else: music, movies, microcode(software) and high-speed pizza delivery."
Well guess what? We're no longer better at movies OR music.
Don't believe me? Look at some of those youtube videos Rock has posted. Oh, to be sure, some of it is shit only Euros can come up with; but lots of it is heads and shoulders above what generations Y/Z here are listening to. And look closely at the credits for movies and music videos -- Hollywood still has eye candy worth looking at, but not much else. If you want quality movies, don't look at what Sundance and such do -- look to Australia, Eastern Europe, China.
Microcode -- I'm betting we might still have a little edge, but whatever we have, it isn't likely to last.
We're probably still best at pizza delivery, though.
Hooray for us.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
