I thought the thread was about the Packers draft needs, not whether Mario Williams is a DE in the 4 - 3, or a OLB in the 3 - 4. I think you're right, he's probably better at DE than OLB. Although he sure did well at OLB in those few games. That's pretty damn impressive, no denying that. I wouldn't mind the Packers picking him up, I just don't like the idea of making him the top paid defensive player in the NFL. And Mario Williams has said he's not looking for money, he's looking for the right place.

Even if the Packers land Mario Williams, I think they still have to draft another prospect because of the injury bug he seems to have.

Look at the games Mario played and who he lined up against for his stats and you'll have a lot better idea of what he is as a player.

I'd rather spend 50 million on several serviceable players like safeties and corners that aren't to big a pussies to tackle somebody.

Personally, I think the likelihood that Ted Thompson will spend $50 million in signing bonuses for free agents, whether on one player or several, is simply slim to none.

To speak to the original thread:

I don't care which comes in which round, but I want the first four picks to be OL, OL, DL, OLB.

(and another OL in the 7th round so I get "OL OL OL")
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I've been reading that this is shapping up to be a good draft for OLB, G and DT/NT's. If G is the best overall at the Packers selection, I'm down. But if it comes to a T vs OLB or NT... I think it would be silly to use it on another Tackle... unless the Packers have already decided that Sherrod cannot play T on either side and is going to be a G or cut or just gone. You don't use a first round pick on a backup T when you have so many holes on defense.

Who said anything about using the first round pick on a backup tackle. I said "I don't care which comes in which of the rounds." I want two OL out of the first four picks.

NOT STOP SAYING THE PACKERS SHOULD DRAFT ANOTHER TACKLE IN THE FIRST ROUND!! Muwhahahahaha

PS, great idea just popped up. Packers should franchise Matt Flynn, then trade him straight up for Daryn Colledge. Then the OL will be set because Daryn Colledge will make the LT look better as he did in '10 for the Packers.

According to Ty Dunne of JS Twitter: Thompson repeated that he's going to take the best player available and not stretch for needs.

Really hoping the best player available is a friggin' OLB or DE...

I think if some of you sat down and played poker with Uncle Ted, he'd have you broke and naked after 5 hands. Ted Thompson never tips his hand as to what he is going to do.
