Green Bay Packers

Team Needs: DE, LT, DB. There's a lot to deal with for a 15-1 team. Defensive issues covered up all season by Aaron Rodgers and the team's prolific offense were exposed in the playoff loss to Giants. The Packers had only one sack in the game, and just 29 all year, and the secondary struggled. The team needs to acquire or develop another premier pass rusher to help Clay Matthews, who faced steady double teams and saw his sack total drop from 13.5 to 6. In the secondary, Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson need to play better, and the Packers will need to add a safety if Nick Collins' neck injury is career-ending. The Packers need to address age issues on the offensive line, particularly at Chad Clifton's LT spot. Backup QB must be addressed with Matt Flynn's impending departure as a free agent, and one of Pack's top offensive threats, Jermichael Finley, is a potential free agent.

Offensive line players can take a few years to develop. Both Marco Rivera and Mike Wahle (arguably our best guards from the last decade) were not instant starters. I believe Rivera was a backup for a few years before he took over. I remember getting his autograph in 1997 and wondering "who the hell is that?" A few years later and the guy is one of the best guards in the league. LT is not a draft need. LB is, LT is not.

With that said, if the most phenomenal LT in the world is on the board when it's Ted's turn to pick, he'd probably draft him.

I think first round, take the best player available and we hope it's a DE or more hopefully, a OLB.

Besides, neither dfosterf or Wade actually string together reasoning other than 'oooh draft OL, draft OL' post after post. I know they (like myself) are saddened and heartbroken Ted Thompson failed the Packers by letting Daryn Colledge leave, but c'mon man!! [boxing]

1. DE
2. OLB
3. S

National media that try to cover a local team almost most always have no idea what they are talking about.

If there is a better option at DE than OLB upon the 28th pick, then so be it. I am also all for adding depth to the offensive line, but there is no way that is the #2 concern for the Pack. Wish there was some sort of update on Sherrod's leg injury.

I'd argue we went into 2011 one OL short, so damn right I'll be drafting OL. If 🇦🇷 goes down, the season's over. Especially since we won't have Matt Flynn in 2012. :(

That said, we got needs all over the place. In no order, DL, LB, OL, DB, KR/PR. Which pretty much says everyone but QB, RB, WR, TE, P, K.

I'd now argue that our #1 problem last year was getting to the opposing QB. QBs had way too much time to ponder the universe, then look for an open receiver. Not acceptable. That's the main reason our D dropped from #2 to #19.

We have the large bodies in the middle of the DL, but we don't have a Cullen Jenkins. We also need someone who can generate pressure opposite CM3. Those are our 2 biggest needs.

Fix those problems and suddenly Williams and Shields will look like they did in 2010. Woodson will probably be even more a hybrid player than he is now. And I don't want to see CM3 back there covering so much. I want to see him standing over a QB who is lying on the ground wondering why he didn't join the ballet instead of playing football.

That could very well be likely and the Packers draft another Tackle, thing is, not one of us fans know this, so how can we blindly advocate such a move?

What, no love for Graham Harrell?? lol
