What is also key to look at is the 49ers play a similar style D with a 3-4 system. A big change for them was drafting alonso smith for the ROLB position. He gave them 14 sacks.

I would think that was from Raji hardly getting any rest. A 340 pound man playing pretty much all game and defense unable to get off the field really took a toll on him this season.

Add to that the lack of pressure from the other defensive linemen (and linebackers), which allowed Raji to get double-teamed more than often making matters worse for him. Personally, I'd like to get another NT and bump Raji to the defensive end position.

I know we are on the subject of ROLB, but I think RDE plays a role in this position as well and how affective the next player will be. Does anyone think they just give Mike Neal another chance and don't focus on that position (RDE)?
