Why do we always seem to receive first?

I always ask myself this why do we receive first? We just go 3 and out the first drive so its basically a waste.

I've said basically the exact same thing. I know the Pack want to get off to a quick start, but the first couple of drives for teams always seem to go no where. I'd rather see us receive first in the second half when we've got our shit together.

Well, the idea is to put 7 on the board of the first drive and make the team play catch up the entire game. Let's say we score a touchdown on the first drive, stop them on their first drive, and score another touchdown on the next drive, we're already up 14-0 and that can totally knock teams off their game plans.

I agree with the strategy and idea, especially with our defense vs. our offensive.

A good offensive can make a better defense.

I've been complaining about this all year. I'm a huge proponent of deferring in the first half, if you win the coin toss. Other than the fact that we have had some miserable first series this year, it always seemed to me that defense thrives off being pumped up at the start of the game more than the offense does. Plus if you get the last possession in the first half, you get the ball twice in a row, which could be huge.

IIRC, the '96 Superbowl team deferred more often than not.
