It has been assumed to be a foregone conclusion for much of the season that A.R. would be the MVP. However, I'm starting to wonder if that's still the case. This isn't a criticism of him, knee jerk to the loss, or anything, just thoughts based on stats and records

Brees I think is the biggest challenger, and as of today's games...

DB 71.5% completion, 37:11 (TD:int), 4,780 yards, 105.9 rating (QBR as of last week, will increase) Aaron Rodgers 68.0% completion, 40:6 (TD:int), 4,360 yards, 123.3 rating (QBR as of last week, will decrease)

Brees has had some big games, and DB will likely break 1, possibly 2 NFL records with the yards and completion % this year. I still think the nod goes to Aaron, but I'm not so certain it's a done deal anymore.

If Aaron Rodgers doesn't win the MVP, then something is very wrong with the voting process. Drew Brees is playing well, but Rodgers is having one of the greatest single seasons in history. The yardage stat is overrated in today's NFL. Dan Marino's 5,000-plus yard season in the mid 80s is always going to be more impressive than 5,000 yards in today‘s NFL. I think most levelheaded voters will see it that way.

It's not based just on stats, arguably Packers have the better "team", so, I don't agree with it necessarily, but that will weight on the voting as well. After last week, I thought it was unanimous Rodgers. Now, probably still Rodgers but Brees will get some votes. Brees is also having one of the best seasons ever for a QB.

Brees has had a couple that were worse this year. He had a 70.9 and a 73.0 rating. He also had an 82.7 on top of it.

Rodgers is having a lot of balls dropped lately. Hard to blame him for that.

I didn't start this thread to bash or blame Rodgers, just I think the loss coupled with strong closes and record years by other players at least make the MVP race a conversation now, IMO.

This is too much of a reaction to one week. New Orleans doesn't play well outside of dome stadiums. I can't be the only person that sees this. The passing yardage record isn't a big deal. The Packers beat the Saints earlier in the year. The Saints may end up as the No. 3 seed in the NFC. There isn't enough there unless the Packers collapse and finish 13-3.

Brees would be lucky to get 10 out of 50 votes right now. Frankly, if Denver finishes 11-5, Tim Tebow may end up with more votes than Brees. Now that opens up a can of new worms. Rodgers will win it, though. This week was the exception to an outstanding season.

Rodgers will probably win it, but to derail the thread, the Saints are playing much better football in the past couple of weeks. Brees is peaking. They almost have as many weapons as the Packers, and can get more pressure on the QB. Their defense has left a lot to be desired, but at least they get more pressure than the Packers. Either the Packers pick it up going into the playoffs, or it would not be surprising to see a loss to the Saints.

I think Tony Romo is the #2 highest rated QB of all time, that should tell you enough about the QB rating. Yards is the most ridiculous though, I will give you that, 3,000 yards in a season is basically a given now.

3000 yards in a season is less than 190 yards per game.
