Let's put all biases aside here. Favre was bad in MN last year. I'm not at all denying that. I watched almost every game he played. But he can't possibly be worse than Garcia or Delhomme. I'd take Garcia over Delhomme though. I'm actually surprised they didn't bring back Favre.

Of all the ironies, I could see us creaming the Texans in the playoffs in an 🇦🇷 vs Favre battle. Imagine the ratings that would draw. Maybe that's exactly why Favre would want to remain retired. He knows there's no way the Texans could win.

a little more:

The Bills offered Harrell a spot on their 53-man roster, so the Packers had to decide whether to promote him from their practice squad or let him go. In a sign that they view him as a possible No. 2 quarterback next year after Matt Flynn’s presumed departure in free agency, the Packers offered Harrell a spot on their 53, and he chose to stay with them rather than go to Buffalo.

“It just shows that they want to keep you around, that’s nice,” Harrell said. “It’s a good thing to be wanted. Yesterday was kind of stressful day trying to decide what’s the best situation. But it’s a good thing to be wanted, and I’ve always really enjoyed it here and am happy to still be here.”

Smart move by Harrell. Stick around for another offseason or two and receive the benefit of MM's QB School. Max out your skills, THEN go somewhere and try to start.

- Quarless suffering a season ending injury.
- Already carrying 5 TEs on the active roster.
- Pretty good chance to earn the #2 job in camp next year.
- Chance to continue developing with the best group of receivers in the NFL.
- Unstable QB situation in Buffalo where Brohm went who is now sitting at home without a job.

Made sense for Graham to stay and the Packers to promote him.

Yeah, I'm not sure why this was even a hard decision for Harrell. Stay in Green Bay, have a serious chance to earn another Super Bowl ring and improve your cachet (even as a backup), or go to Buffalo, where you probably have a better chance of earning a starting job, but you will probably get absolutely destroyed behind that offensive line and you will have no one to throw to, will probably look like crap, and be out of the league in a season or two (ala Brian Brohm). For some odd reason, backup QBs always get more credit than they deserve, so he is much more likely to earn favor with the public and scouts safely ensconced in Green Bay than he would getting his ass handed to him in Buffalo. The best chance Harrell has of sliding into a good situation in a year or two is to back Aaron Rodgers up on another Super Bowl caliber campaign, and I think he knows it.

Plus it's just a lot more fun to hang around a winning organization than a losing one. It's not like he'd be earning any extra cash to be miserable out in Buffalo.

http://www.espnmilwaukee.com/corp/page/12%2F07%2F11_Harrell%27s_call%3F_Stay_put/320?feed=2

On Tuesday, as the Packers mulled what to do with him, Harrell went back and forth in his mind. He also went back and forth with Rodgers via SMS.

“He told me I should stay,” Harrell said Wednesday after he was officially promoted to the 53-man roster, taking the spot of tight end Andrew Quarless, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve. (Harrell said the decision was made Tuesday night.)

“Maybe that was (for) a selfish reason because he and I get along so well and he’s pretty comfortable right now. (But) I trust him and he wouldn’t advise me in the wrong direction.

“I’m excited to be here. Having him definitely helps, not only because we get along so well but he’s such a great player and he can do everything he can to teach you. It’s a great place to learn and develop.”

I've yet to see anyone say anything other than they get along really well with Aaron Rodgers. I'm not sure what to make of it. People afraid to speak out against him or he's just that cool. Probably the latter.
