In reading some of the comments from players, one would feel they lost the game. I'm hoping this translates into a pounding of the Lions Thursday.

Jordy Nelson is openly black. He just happens to be white.

I'm happy with the win, of course, but not happy with how we played. There was some awful tackling, and we're still having miscommunications in the secondary. It seems like some (not all) of the players are drinking their own koolaid - I really questioned the effort out there during the game. With the way the defense played last week I thought they were coming around. That defense would have crushed the Bucs today. Were they just looking past the Bucs to the Lions?

If we play like that on Thursday, we'll lose. No doubt in my mind.

They certainly seemed like they hadn’t looked at Tampa much, so maybe McCarthy put a real emphasis on beating the divisional opponent and just hoped the team would pull one out against Tampa.

Also today Mike mentioned in the Milwaukee paper that he LOVES playing on TGD. With a 3-1 record I won't doubt him.

EDIT- Well I didn't remember exactly what Mike said at his press conference and it was the GB paper so that means you can question comment about whether or not the coaches give the players the game plan early or not.

Other highlights from McCarthy’s presser  this afternoon:

* I don’t mind the Thanksgiving schedule and short week. Players like to turn around and play right away.

It’s an honor playing on Thanksgiving Day. This is fifth time in my coaching career I’ve been part of it. It’s special they pick us to play.

Interesting tidbit  by our friend Kevin Seifert:

Rodgers was unusually ineffective Sunday when taking snaps directly from center, as opposed to the shotgun. He missed on seven of 12 passes he threw, including his fourth-quarter interception, when under center. He had been completing 73 percent of those passes entering the game, according to ESPN's Stats & Information. There might be an explanation there, but short of some hidden injury that made his dropback less rhythmic, I can't think of one.

Maybe, as Gregg Easterbrook suggested a few weeks ago, NFL quarterbacks these days just are out of practice when it comes to taking snaps under center?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/eric_mack/11/20/fast.forward/index.html#ixzz1eS1RS2hM ]nuggets[/url] for our fantasy aficionados:

• James Starks, and Ryan Grant for that matter, failed us against the worst team in fantasy vs. RBs. It shows just how little Starks or Grant are useful to us. Starks, who has a knee strain, at least was active in the passing game, but you need to be desperate in crunch time to use a Packers RB. You should not use either on the short week against a tough Lions defensive front.

• Jordy Nelson has become a must-start receiver. His 123-yard, two-touchdown effort seals it. He has outperformed all of the Packers receivers, even Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley.

• Donald Driver has been used more in recent weeks amid James Jones' issues with dropped passes. Jones should not be used in any leagues now. Driver looks like a decent sleeper now

And now for some excellent news  to brighten the mood:

Sunday was the fourth consecutive game in which Masthay punted three or fewer times. He’s had seven such games this year, the most over the course of the first 10 games in any season in Packers history.

Green Bay has punted 31 times, the fewest in its first 10 games going back to 1933. The previous record of 34 was held by the 1961, 1963 and 1989 teams.

The second-year player is averaging 45.8 yards a punt which is better than Craig Hentrich’s team record of 45.0 set in 1997.

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
