No, but I do wish you took the title of this entire thread into account before the editorial, which is MY opinion--

No more valid than yours, I reckon. We just agree to disagree.

And I don't understand the reflexive need to defend him either. We might have had one or two more championships if he hadn't fucked up so spectacularly in the playoffs.

Praise of Aaron Rodgers is not automatically denigration of Brett Favre. I don't know why it's so hard to get that.

Was it Brett Favre or was it Al Harris? You have blamed both of them in the past.

Or was it somebody else?

Maybe James Jones for dropping a sure TD pass, or maybe the whole defensive line because they couldn't stop The Giants running game.

THIS IS A FUCKING TEAM GAME!!!!! The Giants were the better TEAM that day, deal with it.

Until you figure that out, your consistent need to bash on Brett Favre or anyone else YOU have deemed unworthy of your praise just makes you look plain stupid.

Didn't take you long to turn this thread into exactly what everyone knew it would turn into, another bash Brett Favre thread that will probably go on for 10 pages now.

At this point in time, given the current rules of The NFL, Aaron Rodgers is playing at a higher level than anyone else in Packer History, and the argument can be made any QB.

A 14 game stretch of complete dominance has been exciting to watch, but to compare Aaron with The absolute best in history(Starr,Unitas,Bradshaw,Montana,Young), just to name a few, let's give it a few more years.

Enjoy the ride Packer Fans!!!!!!

How many years need to pass before these comparisons subside? Stand by for my thread on why Aaron Rodgers is better then Bart Starr.

😝

Just kidding, I am on record as someone who welcomes the comparisons. The differences in their styles bring to light some things I did not notice as a fan 5 years ago. I remember thinking the sluggish performance of our offense was due to Sherman and Rossley because I would question them before #4. Seeing how AR embraces the offensive playbook and works within the constraints, I can see my grumblings were probably off base a bit.
More than anything, these posts show how lucky we are as GB fans.

We are ALL RIGHT in this.

As in, all correct.

You boys should have all seen Bart.

He was also one of the constance in The Packers 60's domination. 5 in 7 is pretty damn impressive.

I have no problem with qb comparisons, but the era's have to be taken into consideration.

The problem, as I have stated, is that anytime Brett Favre's name is included in any conversation the thread turns into a petty Favre bashing session which I for one am tired of sifting through to get at the meat of the subject posted.

Petty, Buckeye I am offended, some of has have gone to great lengths in our Favre bashing.

Just because a man wears a G on his helmet doesn't mean he walks on water; and when said man thinks he does but has actually fallen from grace - some of us keep long memories of the autrocities.

Buckey, you're a much better man for foregiving Brett.

Rodgers is fantastic but it does help having the same core of skills players year in and out. What we're seeing is a combination of Rodgers ability coupled with his confidence in his teammates. Aaron deserves all the credit he's given but it's too often overlooked how solid the chemistry on this offense is.

The WR core is so interchangeable -- not to mention there's Finley who lines up at every position. In addition to being diverse, as a unit and individually, they are extremely skilled. Drops notwithstanding, there really are no weaknesses in the receiving core. Nelson has emerged as a legitimate deep threat -- which is almost bizarre because the majority of his catches are on more possession type routes. Jones has a nose for the endzone. Jennings is Jennings. Driver may not see as many thrown his way but he's still a savvy and tough player. Cobb provides nice playmaking skills from the slot. Finley is man beast/matchup nightmare. And they are all on the same page.

A few quick stats on Mr. Rodgers:

-roughly one out of 11 passing attempts for Rodgers result in a touchdown (TD%: 9.1). From looking at other top TD passing seasons, I believe only Manning's 2004 season was better (9.9%)

-Rodgers is currently leading the league in:
completion percentage (72.5%)*
passing TDs (24)
total TDs (26)
QB rating (129.1)
yards per attempt (9.9)
average yards per attempt (11.2)
net yards per attempt (8.8)
adjusted net yards per attempt (10.0)
TD percentage (9.1)

Some of those last few stats aren't cited in conversation too often, but they're pretty good gauges of a QB's play. Average yards per attempt takes into account interceptions and touchdowns thrown. Net yards per attempt takes into account sacks and sack yards. Adjusted net yards per attempt puts the sacks, sack yards, interceptions, and touchdowns all into one.
