So, how do you attack Ponder? I've been pondering this question myself. He's a young guy making his first start,  and has alot of athletic ability as far as scrambling and running with the ball. So normally I'd say contain him and force him to beat us throwing. And actually that might play to our defense's strength this year. Especially since they're likely to run Apete quite a bit.
But I just think I'd like to see him scrambling out of the pocket. I'd like to see him get hit a few times. Being a rookie, he'll probably have a tendency to pull it down and run with it. I don't think he's gonna beat us with his feet. He might get a few first downs, but he's also gonna take hits from my man Dez Bishop and Clay Matthews.
Just a thought. Either way I think we beat the Queens.

I thought he looked good vs the packers. In the 4th quarter a lot of his throws were just flukes though. Just seemed to throw some balls up and hope..and a few of them got completed but I don't see that lasting for long. He also doesn't really have good arm strength. On some of his deep balls they really lacked distance and velocity.

He seems pretty bright and fairly accurate though

It seemed like we were doing good when we sent 4 or 5 in on blitzes. Enough pressure to prevent him from being able to comfortably check all his options. They had a lot of success with short to intermediate routes, but his arm strength looked iffy and his accuracy downfield was questionable.

13 of 32 for a 41% completion rate. That POS needs to be benched ASAP. Where the floop is the $5 million baby wearing #5? PLAY HIM!!

FYI, just making fun of the douchebag puker fans on my Facebook right now. No, none of you are whom I'm making fun of.

If they can get someone to coach Ponder up, he has a chance to be average.

What i do not understand is why they didnt gameplan like this for Donovan?, he is at his best when he is moving outside the pocket, but the vikings didnt play him to his strengths, but for a rookie they will draw it up so he can easiere see the pressure coming?

I thought it was VERY curious that the playcalling called for more deep passes (or at least seemed like it did) this past game then the previous 6 weeks combined. Either the playcalling has changed dramatically or McNabb continuously checks out of the long ball.

I don't care as long as the playcalling and QB play continues to improve. Playcalling is working it's way there, IMO, but there's a TON of room for improvement at the QB position.

I thought he looked pretty good, especially for his first start. However, I'll have to see him perform like that for several more games after teams have a few regular season game tapes on him to say much about his short term outlook. His tendencies will become more apparent to defensive coordinators throughout the rest of the season. Perhaps he'll continue his level of play, who knows. I'm sure it's encouraging to Vikings fans either way.
