You NEVER go for it on forth and goal at that stage of the game, when you are tied.
That said.......I would have liked to see a QB rollout on 3rd down. At the worst you don't score and go for the FG.

But giving your D a 3 point lead with less then 2 minutes SHOULD be enough.
Our special teams SUCK. How many times has our kicker had to make the tackle? There's NO excuse for that. I was HOPING they would squib kick it there........but they didn't.
Our pass D SUCKS. They were great early in the year, but MIA recently. Injuries are probably the reason. Plus VERY LITTLE QB pressure........which has killed us all season.
Unless both the Vikings and Bears self destruct, our season is over.
Which is just as well, as i can't see us doing anything in the playoffs anyway.

Well said Cheesey, I didn't agree with the call on 3rd. We practically lined up (no wideouts, two fullbacks, one running back) and told them we were gonna run up their gut. Not the smartest move especially since Rodgers was throwing so well (240+ yards in the second half).

Thank you!
I think the call was WAY too conservative. Especially since you did nothing the previous run. Let Rodgers at least TRY to do it. Like you said, he was hot, so why not put it in his hands?
Oh well.........what can ya do???

But I don't think that play started it, it was are porous special teams. A 40 yard runback when we try to hold them? Are you KIDDING ME? That's pathetic.

Totally agree.

I think Mike Stocks' position has to be under review this season.

Especially after the latest JSOnline article where Stock came off like an egotistical jerk ("My way is right, do it that way or hit the highway" mentality) really soured me on him...

I also heard it was his call on the Frost/Ryan switcheroo. That hasn't worked out so well either.

i don't blame him for that. i blame him for our offense's slow start, idiotic personnel moves, and for losing four games by four points or less. we win two of those games, we're in the playoffs.

"all_about_da_packers" wrote:

Indeed, let's blame the O for failing to get those 4 points, instead of the D and ST for giving up big plays, big returns, and long runs that either went for TDs or set up short TD runs. [/sarcasm]

"millertime" wrote:

MM the HEAD COACH. While he may be more involved in the offense than the D or ST, it is his responsibility to make sure that this team is running on all cylinders. Maybe he should focus less on our offense and more on our defense, a defense that has given up an average of 43 points over the last two games.

Hey, at least I can say I like the talent on our team and I think with a couple tweaks and improvements next offseason we should have a ruthless squad.

So many idiots in this thread.

Thanks for the laugh though.

BTW about the punt block attempt, Panthers have had a lot of punts blocked this year, but who cares about facts. Stupid McCarthy!

LOL

I love you guys.

Game after game, I find it disheartening to watch our special teams swarm around the ball carrier, only to see him emerge several yards down field and break out for a long gain. Whenever the ball carrier disappears, I'm always sure that they've finally tackled him this time, but sure enough, he slips out. Same thing happens on most runs as well.

But yes, I agree with Cheesey. Rodgers doesn't have a turnover in the Red Zone yet this season. Put it in his hands and let him toss it to our receivers.

Tromadz, even if the special teams had recovered the blocked punt, there would only have been 2 seconds left on the clock. What was the point?

Thread idiot count + 1. LOL.

Seriously though, firing McCarthy. Dumbest thing I've heard of. He's done well, he's just stubborn working with a young QB. Let this team mature a little bit.

cheeseheads im pretty sure they did lose it cuz from the 2 yard line with 2 minutes i dont think the panthers would have driven 98 yds and thats if we didnt make the td

"all_about_da_packers" wrote:

Are you serious?

The D was lights out in the second half. There was no reason to not trust the D to come up with a stop given their great play in the second half.

A TD would've been nice, but the Packers had two attempts to punch it in from the half yard line, but failed. What makes you think they'd be successful from the 2 yard line?

McCarthy took the sure-fire 3 points. You can't blame him for that.

Still.......don't you at least put Blackmon back? He's had some HUGE returns this year. Otherwise.......the ball bounces, and the clock almost runs out.
You know........just like it did.

Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : Sooooooo many penalties
Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : It may only be preseason, but this game is a trip to the dentist

TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Zero- Did you see what I posted about Voice of Reason and his wife? She posted over at fleaflicker that they are both "In"
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Well, not crazy, it makes sense. Crazy I didn't notice/find it earlier
Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : it's crazy how one stored procedure to get data bogged everything down for speed here
dfosterf (7-Aug) : to herd cats or goldfish without a bowl. They reminded me of the annual assembly of our fantasy league
dfosterf (7-Aug) : out on a field trip, outfitting them with little yellow smocks. Most of the little folk were well behaved, but several were like trying
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Yesterday my wife and I spent the afternoon on the waterfront here in Alexandria, Va. A daycare company took about 15 three/four year olds
wpr (7-Aug) : seems faster. yay
dfosterf (7-Aug) : Wife of reason posted on the in/out thread on fleaflicker that both she and vor are in

Zero2Cool (7-Aug) : Sure does feel like site is more snappy
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : I thought that was the Lions OL
Mucky Tundra (6-Aug) : Travis Glover placed on IR; seasons over for him
Zero2Cool (6-Aug) : found bad sql in database, maybe site faster now?
dfosterf (5-Aug) : I'm going to call that a good move.
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Packers sign CB Corey Ballentine
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : I'm not sure how to kill the draft order just yet so it's not so confusing.
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4-Aug) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
