I think you got me on the Donovan McNabb thing.
I DID get the part about him being the next Viking QB correct, (beating out approx. 7500 [THEN] PPO members in the process--compared to the 75 [NOW] lol lol lol) way back when, but I readily admit that I not only didn't think he'd suck, I rode you like a pony for your opinion that he would.
You were right. I was wrong.
Score:
Me 100
You 1
...or there-abouts, at least in my liitle mind and world, lol
Seriously, good call, so far-
Dave
If the rest of you doubt that these conversations occurred, just remember, many have repeatedly bitched at both of us for "going too soon". or "worrying about shit that will not materialize", etc. I assure you, we argued about this a LONG TIME AGO.

I'll post here what I just recently posted on PPO.

I guess, according to y’all, my whole career I’ve been inaccurate. It’s just making the play when the play needs to be made.

Donovan McNabb wrote:

Really McNabb? Really? Yeah sure, you make the play when it was needed to be made 3+ years ago. No one here is saying you have bene inaccurate your whole career.. Hell, no one here in MINNESOTA has watched you enough to even make that judgement. What we DO see, Donovan, is an aging QB who looks STRIKINGLY familiar to a former project QB who's getting savaged in Seattle right now. And you are supposed to be a Pro Bowler.

I was initially OK with McNabb joining the team, just like with Favre, as long as he performed. Hell, I even gave him less of a standard to play by than I did Favre. He's underwhelmed me with his performance so far. He'll have to turn his game around big time before I call this move a bust.

I don't even blame him. I know everyone else does, especially over at PPO.
Like I told Marr, his line got awful in Philly, so did he. The line was awful in D.C., so was he, and the line is awful in Minnesota, so he is too. Some QB's can overcome that. They are rare. Rodgers has spent a lot of time on his back learning how to play behind a shit-box-line. Our o-line is the best in the division, right now, with both starting offensive tackles out. Is it a good line?
FUCK NO
It's just the best one in the division.
McNabb doesn't SEEM like the kind of guy that needs a good line, but circumstances have shown of late that he IS. It might be the repeated stompings he took late in his tenure with Philly. The man had NO CHANCE with a shaky line that then suffered injuries.
He has absolutely proven he has the ability to play at an elite level. You can't deny that, look at his winning percentages.
He USED TO BE ABLE to play behind shit-box lines, but NO LONGER CAN.
It is the NFL equivalent of "shell-shock" or PTSD, for him, imo
That is my ultimate assessment of Donovan for 2011, so far.

I'm not rooting for his failure, quite the opposite. But I will be rooting for Ponder (please dear God not Webb) until either A)Ponder comes in at QB, or B)McNabb ups his game in a big way.

Scary thought Foster brought up. Yes, our OL is the best in the division. It's not good, it's just the rest of the division's OLs are worse. Yikes!

McNabb is a bust. I predicted him to be good for 8-9 games then get injured because the MN OL is horrible. I was wrong.

He was pretty good in college. But he had as much time as Brady in the pocket. If he is getting hit before he can plant on a 3 step drop, he may be a worse option than Webb. Who is a pretty good runner.

He is a lot more accurate than McNabb though.

It is hard to tell from pre season or the time he got in against the Bears. In both cases he was playing against fairly vanilla Ds.

Preseason is when nobody wants to tip their hand. Last night, the Bears has such a lead that they were basically playing prevent. Any QB will put up yards against a prevent.

My opinion is that Ponder would be dinged up by now if he had started the season.

I'm aware that you can't judge a player solely by their performances in preseason. But outside of the Bearce game, that is the only information we have on him playing against an NFL defense.

My opinion is that pretty much every QB in the league would be dinged up by now. Especially behind that OLine.
