Last night I watched an episode of Destination Truth... they were on Easter Island, which really drew my attention.

After the kids are grown and out of the house.. my plan is to move someplace in life were the population is low, the lifestyle is a much slower pace and the governmental oversight is very lax.

Immediately I thought of North Dakota.. but too damn cold. :)

So I added another requirement of mild to warm weather all year long; if possible avoiding real hot weather in the summer season.

With the path that this country is going down.. I am kind of crossing off the thought of Hana on Maui's north shore.

So that opens the door to anywhere outside of the United states..

This is where PH.com comes in and the vast amount of knowledge and experience can be tapped.. throw some ideas out on a location to retire in comfortably on a moderate nest egg and hitting the criteria above.

Yes this is probably 15 to 20 years off.. but you know the 7 P's. ;)

I think I may fit in well on Easter Island.. albeit I might go stir crazy on that small of a land plot and a lack of hunting game.

Sounds like you're moving to Colorado. It's never cold here. Okay, if you ask around here, they say 60 is cold, but truthfully, 60 here feels like low to mid 70's in Green Bay. The nights get down to the sub 30's, but then the high is 50's - 60's at least ... nearly all year round.

Considering you can go to "Weed Shops" to get stoned, I'd say the government is fairly lax here.

Let's trade, I wanna go home ...

Resided in Denver for a couple of weeks in the mid 90's.. beautiful backdrop but way to populated for me.

Now.. outside of Glenwood Springs.. possibilities.. but that still places me under US law and taxation.. if I am staying in the US territory.. I will be lounging on the north shore of Maui. 🙂

Move out here to Bismarck my man. We are on the edge of the Banana belt and the winters are getting more mild (coldness wise, cue the video from VR shooting holes in my theory). You know we get all that Fed gov't pork, so the economy is booming. The oil business is eliminating our tax burden. You get awesome bird hunting and I'll take you mule deer hunting. You can buy a beautiful condo for 200K and have no yardwork, buy a pontoon and fish the Missouri all summer. The month of January and February are a bitch though, but that's what Vegas, Arizona and Florida are for. No riff, raff or cultural bull shit to deal with either.

Rapid City isn't bad either, but not nearly as nice a city as Bismarck is. Fuck Colorado, full of dumbass Bronco fans.

Easter Island would suck for the same reason Iceland & Haiti would suck - it's been mostly denuded. I like trees. You won't see any there.

The world would be so much nicer if 3 billion humans would drop dead.

OK, you want real ideas instead of fantasy? Move to New Zealand. It's only got 4 million people. Well, for now. Just wait until someone with white liberal guilt comes into power and starts talking about how NZ needs more diversity and suddenly, the population will skyrocket to 30 million and it will suck just like everywhere else.

Take my word for it.

TAIPA New Zealand.

Simmply remarkable and some of the most remarkable people I have met in my life. The Mauri people are so incredibly family oriented and kind. The Mauri children will knock on your door eery night and ask if you them to get you anything for dinner from their fridge. Which just happens to be the Ocean. Then they will go out in their boats and free dive for your dinner. I always ordered Green muscles which you cook on the barbie until they open up and then pour beer on them.

You can take a drive over to 99 mile beach, drive miles on the beach, set up a tent and not see another human for a week.

I second what RP said. NZ folk are the nicest people you'll ever run into. I just pray they don't liberalize their immigration policy. It's no coincidence that all the great outdoor movies (Lord of the Rings for instance) will be filmed there. There is still unspoiled land out there (and I'm not talking about tundra, I mean something worth seeing).

New Zealand I pondered.. but thank you for the input.

Yes.. this is a serious thought.. it will be something I plan for, if I can obtain it and be amble enough to enjoy it may be the question. But I have to readjust the goal.. I just lack the long term confidence in this nation on its current path. So.. plan B needs to be constructed.

Easter Island was an example.. probably not a true consideration past the low population numbers. I have done the big city life.. it does not wear well on me. Heck a town of 900 and 10 acres of land feels restricting.. I have this concrete type phobia, lol.

dfosterf (19h) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (19h) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
Zero2Cool (24-Jun) : Yawn. Rodgers says he is "pretty sure" this be final season.
Zero2Cool (23-Jun) : PFT claims Packers are having extension talks with Zach Tom, Quay Walker.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jun) : GB-Minnesota 2004 Wild Card game popped up on my YouTube page....UGH
beast (20-Jun) : Hmm 🤔 re-signing Walker before Tom? Sounds highly questionable to me.
Mucky Tundra (19-Jun) : One person on Twitter=cannon law
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : Well, to ONE person on Tweeter
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : According to Tweeter
Zero2Cool (19-Jun) : Packers are working on extension for LT Walker they hope to have done before camp
dfosterf (18-Jun) : E4B landed at Andrews last night
dfosterf (18-Jun) : 101 in a 60
dfosterf (18-Jun) : FAFO
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : one year $4m with incentives to make it up to $6m
dfosterf (18-Jun) : Or Lions
dfosterf (18-Jun) : Beats the hell out of a Vikings signing
Zero2Cool (18-Jun) : Baltimore Ravens now have signed former Packers CB Jaire Alexander.
dfosterf (14-Jun) : TWO magnificent strikes for touchdowns. Lose the pennstate semigeezer non nfl backup
dfosterf (14-Jun) : There was minicamp Thursday. My man Taylor Engersma threw
dfosterf (11-Jun) : There will be a mini camp practice Thursday.
Zero2Cool (11-Jun) : He's been sporting a ring for a while now. It's probably Madonna.
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : We only do the tea before whoopee, it relaxes me.
wpr (10-Jun) : That's awesome Martha.
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : How's the ayahuasca tea he makes, Martha?
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : Turns out he like older women
Martha Careful (10-Jun) : I wasn't supposed to say anything, but yes the word is out and we are happy 😂😂😂
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : I might be late on this but Aaron Rodgers is now married
Mucky Tundra (10-Jun) : Well he can always ask his brother for pointers
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : Bo Melton taking some reps at CB as well as WR
Zero2Cool (10-Jun) : key transactions coming today at 3pm that will consume more cap in 2025
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : Jaire played in just 34 of a possible 68 games since the start of the 2021 season
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : reported, but not expected to practice
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : Jenkins has REPORTED for mandatory camp
Zero2Cool (9-Jun) : I really thought he'd play for Packers.
buckeyepackfan (9-Jun) : Packers releasing Jaire Alexander.
