In the game day chat we had a disagreement over how many fumbles Stark had in college.

I know there is a website or two that fail to list any fumbles for him.

He did however have 12 according to this site.

Fumbles
Season TEAM G FUMB FUMBLOST
2006-07 Buffalo 12 10 5
2007-08 Buffalo 12 4 3
2008-09 Buffalo 12 5 4
TOTAL 36 19 12

I have been wrong before, just ask my wife, but it doesn't seem to be the case this time.

I kept looking for and found the same link because I felt you were right. I sent that same damn link into the chat several times with your name highlighted saying you were right. You kept ignoring it, now I know why, because you had one more dick move to pull. Classy.

Oh well. 1 fumble after 142 carries isn't anything to get mad over. It looked to me like he didn't even have a good handle on it by the time Briggs got there.

I would have replied, but I was probably looking for the link myself.

I also kind of jumped out early. I usually hang in for a while after the game but my wife wanted to watch something.

I am running my PC on my big screen for the game, so I didn't want to monopolize it.

A happy wife is more important than the game day chat.

I didn't get my laptop out until just a little bit ago.

Maybe lower the temperature in here a bit. Wait, that doesn't stand up coming from me (hothead). Moving along [...whistles...]

His fumble was not the story. The story is how he had a simply horrible game today. Is it possible that the team just blocked that much better for Grant, or that the playcalling was that much more advantageous for Grant? Sure. But it's not the case. Starks was pussy-footing around just like we have seen Grant do before, which Grant was hitting the hole with speed like we have seen Starks to before. Classic body-swap situation.

On a number of Grant's successful runs, it was classic one-cut and go. There were also some favorable matchups. From memory, there were a handful of times where Green Bay ran either a 3WR/2RB or 3WR/TE/RB set and had nice gains. Think about it: with only 6 guys in the box, that's an obvious chance for nice gains.

Green Bay's run offense works differently than most teams. For most teams the run opens the pass (which is still true of Green Bay to an extent with play action). But more often it seems that Green Bay's passing game opens up the running lanes.

I do agree that Grant had more opportunities, as far as holes are concerned, but Starks definitely had a few times that he had an opening. It just seemed like he was off his game today, and lacked confidence.

The only time I thought Grant danced around in the backfield was on draws. Where you are supposed to let the blocking develop before you take off.

It doesn't matter to me though.

I am just very happy we have 2 good running backs so whoever is having the best game can get the ball. I want both to do well. I would rather Starks had 80 yards and 2 TDs to go with Grants performance.

But at least we have a greater chance to get the running game going now. If Grant can't get in going, maybe Starks can.

Best of both worlds.
