Any chance you don't have adequate talent on the team as a direct result of the Vikes and Favre sticking it to the Packers?

The fact is, the Vikings held a pretty good SD team within check pretty good, despite McNabb's and the offense's willingness to play weak. Offense should get better with the new system/talent getting used to it.

Seems to me Screaming Lord Byron's raise last season could have been used to resign some young talent.

The first offensive play yesterday for the Vikings was on par for the organization. When I saw McNabb throw that pick I thought, "that's so Vikings." I say bring out Ponder or Webb. Why this rent-a-quarterback stuff all the time?

This rent-a-QB route taken this year was to hopefully keep the Vikings competitive in the division and to help mold and mature their stable of young-uns that are currently ridin' the pine.

The McNabb hate comment wasn't directed at anyone in general. He just seems to be one of the more disliked QBs in the NFL. That's what I don't get.

I just wouldn't trust him with a Weimar mark. He strikes me as insincere as a career politician, someone who says in public what he thinks will help his image most, while saying and doing exactly the opposite in private.

Now, be clear. I have no personal experience with him. I've never met the man, never talked with him or people who know and deal with him. And probably never will. So I have no basis save my own observational skills as a TV watcher and my "gut". I'm not saying he's all of these things in reality. I'm not saying he is any of these things in reality. I can't.

It's just what I feel.

Right or wrong, I "dislike" (I won't use the word "hate", but I do dislike) athletes who I perceive of low character, and among the character flaws I dislike most are those of image-mongering and general suckupery. And, right or wrong, that's the labels I put on McNabb.

For every Aikman that develops under fire.. there 2 or 3 QB's that melt because they were inserted in before they were ready.

IMO.. the greater chance of success comes from allowing a young QB to develop under the tutelage of another.. then excel when ready. Case in point.. Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers. Smith has been brow beat into a shell of the QB coming out of Utah.. while Rodgers has prospered being allowed to develop behind another. Now.. we can't say that is the only aspect that determines.. but I think it increased the probability that a young player will develop and prosper.

Confidence plays such a vital role, IMO, that you preserve that until they are ready to perform.

After watch Ponder on the roller coaster at FSU.. he isn't ready.. honestly I think he was a reach where they drafted him. Tell will tell that story though.
