Let's continue this discussion here ...

I don't think tone is all that hard to judge online (most of the time, at least), but since you guys seem to think it is, why don't you just assume a positive tone in the absence of evidence to the contrary? It would spare us so many senseless squabbles. Why do you guys always assume sarcasm and snideness when it usually isn't actually there?

I know at times I come off wrong or as if I'm aiming to be a prick. I think the only times I've truly been trying to be a prick was during the Brett Favre bitchfests. Other than that, it's never intended, unless specifically stated as such.

I don't try to be a prick or be mean... just something I try to make jokes and they don't turn out as funny as they're in my head (like the buffy joke above). though I was thinking about being a jerk to the question asking if winning the super bowl is good enough... because that's the top team goal for players/coaches/etc... so of course it's enough.

I give and take shit from people. It's just how I am. It is how I was raised, and it's actually been placed there as a coping mechanism. The more crap I would give you means the more I think of you as a friend and the better my comfort level with you is. It's kind of like when a young boy will punch the girl he likes.

The other part of that is that if I am being rather prick like to you - I might be displacing some anger on you cause I know your my buddy.

Outside the net.. my best friends and I live on giving each other shit constantly.. it is part of the fabric of our friendships.

In this medium.. I am much more reserved simply because you can't sell the expression surrounding the rip.. it might not come off correctly. So I tread lightly.. especially with some that I am unsure how they are going to take it. A general rule I live life by.. try and respect everyone until they give you a reason not to.. try an apply that here.

In some cases, example being ND.. if I rip on North Dakota it is really like ripping on my locale... so to me it seems defeating to do so.

Personally.. I give two shits less you rip on me... but there are certain topics off limits with me. My family and wife are not fair game, neither are the less fortunate and challenged people in life.. passed that.. who cares.

It is my responsibility to handle the rip accordingly and respond if I have a set.
