There, one less reason to cut Driver.. one of the core resigned. :)

Packers and Sitton agree on five-year contract extension

Green Bay -- The Green Bay Packers made one very big signing on Friday, a day before they are scheduled to trim their roster to 53 players.

They have agreed to a five-year extension with guard Josh Sitton, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. The deal was announced through the Packers' web site and confirmed by Sitton on his Twitter account.

Sitton said that he would be locked up for the next six years, which means five years was added to his current contract. Sitton was due to make around $1.2 million this year

Great, now Josh Sitton will get injured by week 5 or he'll completely suck this year.

THANKS TED THOMPSON!!

later in the article... like it hasn't been said a hundred times already.

The Packers were about $12.7 million under the salary cap before signing Sitton. They probably have enough money to fit in deals with TE Jermichael Finley and WR Jordy Nelson, both of whom are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents next year.

Great contract extension. Now he needs to get in on that hair endorsement with Matthews.

Wait, I thought Uncle Ted didn't spend money on guards.

You earned it Big Boy, now if all the pundits get off their ass and make you All-Pro like you've earned, Ted will have to get more kudos for getting you cheap.

packerfanoutwest (22h) : would you want him if Pack needed a back up qb?
packerfanoutwest (22h) : JW is done......stick a fork in him
Zero2Cool (23-Apr) : You should. He goes to AFC that helps Packers.
packerfanoutwest (23-Apr) : don't care
Zero2Cool (22-Apr) : Lions shopping Jameson Williams?
packerfanoutwest (22-Apr) : Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst says Green Bay’s roster can win, even without adding anyone in the draft.

wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
