Packers and Sitton agree on five-year contract extension Green Bay -- The Green Bay Packers made one very big signing on Friday, a day before they are scheduled to trim their roster to 53 players. They have agreed to a five-year extension with guard Josh Sitton, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. The deal was announced through the Packers' web site and confirmed by Sitton on his Twitter account.Sitton said that he would be locked up for the next six years, which means five years was added to his current contract. Sitton was due to make around $1.2 million this year
The Packers were about $12.7 million under the salary cap before signing Sitton. They probably have enough money to fit in deals with TE Jermichael Finley and WR Jordy Nelson, both of whom are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents next year.
Wait, I thought Uncle Ted didn't spend money on guards.
