Charlie has to feel very good considering where he was two years ago. I like Green also, and Walden, and Zumbo, and Bulaga, and Starks, and Flynn, and Quarless, and Crabtree, and Bishop, and Shields, and Jenkins(wearing a cast), Nelson and everybody elso who came through and unexpectantly came through, with all our injuries, to win a Super Bowl.

I wasn't really aware of schematic limitations last year because of Peprah. I don't have access to the "film" but I was nonetheless impressed by Peprah last year, especially considering his career backup status. He was solid if unremarkable, and while that don't seem too sexy, in a defense with a bunch of studs it can be all you need sometimes. People always ragged on A.J. Hawk in a similar kind of way.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Jamarcus Russell was the 1st, Ryan Leaf was the 2nd and Brent Fullwood was the 4th player picked. I like Hawk at 5th best. I even like him better at 5th than Jamal Reynolds at 10th. LOL

A 4th round pick like Josh Sitton may have never had to deal with the expectations of being the fifth pick but now that he's established himself as a top flight talent he'll be held to a higher standard.

It doesn't appear that a point is crystalizing ... so I'll just say that my hope is we'll all get better at holding players accountable to their ability and not their draft stock.

Morgan Burnett looks like a stud, but if he goes down we're in good hands with Peprah.

The biggest issue with Hawk outside of his draft position in relation to a weak draft and the system in the NFL at that point paying a premium at the top of the draft; is that he always seemed to play tentatively, like was a tick slow in reading the play.

Late in 09 and last season with being paired with Bishop, you didn't see that as much.. more instinctive and aggressive.. so maybe some of that was a product of the system/players around him.

Either way.. there was a notable difference in Hawk's play in the box.. while he still might not be a blue chip player that some #5 picks in the draft turn into.. his play of last season was solid and assignment sure and at times impacting. Helped him earn another contract.. note the timing of his contract to some other with expiring deals. One would have to believe that is in a way telling..

Bishop and Hawk seem to compliment each other better than the combination of Barnett and Hawk. In the team game.. that is all that matters. Working together as a unit.

Either way.. we are definitely in a better spot at safety today than a year ago.. light years ahead of 2009.

Hawk was solid last year and he'll be solid for years to come. He may never get a Pro Bowl, but he's one of the players the Packers want to keep for years. That's why 🇹🇹 gave him a new contract. 🇹🇹 and 🇲🇲 wanted to lock him up for years.

As for Safety, I can't really judge our SS. However, Collins has had 3 straight Pro Bowls and yes, he's earned them.
