I think if the Packers cut Ryan Grant, they only save $2.5 million. Personally, I'd rather pay him and run his wheels off than risk not having him again. If it wasn't for Ryan Grant, the Packers wouldn't have won Super Bowl XLV.

I'm not buying it.

For several reasons actually.

The article puts an emphasis on the lack of attempts for Grant in the preseason. However, that seems more business than usual than anything out of the ordinary. Several teams don't work their RBs a lot in the preseason. Plus, the passing game takes priority, especially when the Packers are trying to get in rhythm for the regular season.

James Starks is also fairly injury prone. This is a guy with outstanding talent, but he runs high and he's been hurt more than healthy with the Packers. Are the Packers really going to risk their running game on Starks after four postseason games and one preseason game? By the way, he injured himself in the latter.

Another factor people overlook is GB could just keep four RBs if they feel that highly about Nance. They're not going to keep three FBs, so that opens up a roster spot somewhere. My guess is they keep three QBs, but perhaps they cut down on OL, which is a distinct possibility based on the quality of play we've seen in the preseason.

Grant will make the team.

On the Pheasant hunting.. hell yes I will be up for that.. just might not be this year. Today I am sporting a nice walking boot and waiting for test results from the Doc. Might not be doing much this year.. and not real freaking happy about it again.

Everyone missed Grant last year when Jackson was doing squat and then Starks came around near the post-season and did a few good things, stopping some from thinking about Grant again. I was one foot in the Starks boat as well. However, this is just ludicrous to think about. Right now, Starks should be considered an injury prone player. Pup list last year and now the ankle problem after how many carries? Then Silverstein is going to suggest Nance>Grant...that should be a slap in the face to Grant.

I assume giving up Grant would put Starks in the starter role, which is why I added him to the post.

Again, what did Nance even do for the Packers last season?
36 carries for 95 yards....2.6 average.

He is playing against 2nd/3rd stringers in preseason, of course he is going to look better as it is being put.

Hopefully, this will all just pass on by.

The $3.5M saved on Grant goes a long way to signing Finley and Sitton which is much more important the the nostalgia of Grant's back to back 1200 yard seasons.

There's a forest beyond those trees!
