I do not see how having Jones creates any problems with who is going to get the ball. This is the wide receiver group that carried us to the SB so how could it be bad? If we don't have the good #3 would that not affect the wr's in coverage? Or, are some saying we need a good #3 but not one THAT good because everyone will want the ball more?

I would rather McCarthy deal with the problem of getting the ball spread around to a bunch of guys getting open then trying to figure out how the hell to get somebody open. I know he came out last year with the GP too top heavy in Finley's direction. I think he's figured that out. You know and the players know there will be certain games and certain situations where they are going to be the man based on defensive schemes and personnel. It's not going to be the same every week and Rodgers has the pressure off knowing each week he has both the personnel to burn the other team and where the burn is going to happen on the field.

I don't worry about guys bitchin' about getting the ball in the least and it won't happen if we're winning. No one will dare say squat if whatever is going on is producing wins.

A dose of "W" takes care of "bitchitis" every time.

but there no way you have enough balls to go around for 3 talented receiving TEs, 2 RBs with good hands and 5 very good receivers.

Loved this part from an article in another thread, here.

That's one of the reasons I'm not that happy with signing Jones back. You can say all you want about having a healthy rotation and that we "don't have a real starter", but there no way you have enough balls to go around for 3 talented receiving TEs, 2 RBs with good hands and 5 very good receivers.

Or, of course, we'll have to shatter the single season passing record by throwing for roughly 7000 yards.

So while we still have the luxury of being stacked at a position, we go out of our way to sign a WR who has some of the most frustrating lapses in focus I've ever seen and drops all kinds of balls because of it.

Maybe the most sensible thing would be to, indeed, cut Driver. He's not the receiver he used to be and is obviously on the down side of his career.

Secondly, I'd like to keep that 5th spot on the roster open for a young project type of player. It's not like we're going to get a lot more production than a catch or 10, going by Swain and Holliday numbers.

Cobb is a guy who could easily come in and put up Jennings-like rookie production if they let him. Maybe he'll still get some looks, but I doubt he'll get that good a chance, being burried under all those receivers.

And lastly... Remember the borderline situation we had going on last year? When Finley got all those targets that Jennings would've rather had?... I can't see any way that you're going to avoid that with this roster, barring some injuries. Nearly all these receivers are all playing for contracts, they won't like that their production is going down.... It's obviously on the things that stung Jones a bit in FA, as well.

Next to dropping every 3rd ball thrown at him, of course.

Prediction: This time next year we will be:

(a) basking in the glow of two straight super bowl wins.
and
(b) not complaining when Jordy nelson moves on to another team via trade/FA (can't remember when his contract is up).

And everyone will be talking about Jones great moves and gloating to VR and Formo about how the Vikings blew it by not getting him when they had a shot.

Bank on it.

Dismissing Driver after this season might be premature.. it he shows that he still has gas left.

His contract number drops from 4.1 to 2.6 next season the last of his current deal.

And I'll gloat to VR but not Formo. VR gives me grief. Formo doesn't.

He and I usually agree on things. We just root for different teams.

When are we going to find out contract information for him? Does it have to come out or can it stay secret forever?
