According to Jason Wilde on twitter

Mark Tauscher has been released by the @packers.

For the record, Tauscher was the source on that, via text message. Was trying to avoid name-dropper Tweets.

Expected.. still sad for the local kid to be "done".. but he has been very solid for the Packers during his tenure.

It was a pleasure to have him upon "my" team.

Wonder if Tauscher will end up anywhere else, at least as a back-up.

One of my very favorite Packers. Excpected, but still a little melancholy.

May not be the end of Tauscher, The Packers could re-sign him to a Vet minimum salary, to save some cap space.

A.J Hawk was cut and then re-signed the very next day.

Those players who were Fa's may not all be gone, looks like Ted told them to explore free agency, but that doesn't mean The Packers cannot offer them a contract.

This weekend will tell the tale.

Why would they resign him? They only brought him back last year out of desperation. I didn't want him back last year, I certainly don't want him back this year.

I am really liking the personnel decisions so far this year, with the minor quibble that I think they overpaid Crosby. All the guy I have been wanting gone seem to be finally on their way out. It makes me optimistic for the coming season.

I think they need to sign another FB... at the very least.
If Thompson doesn't sign another FB he should be FIRED!

A reporter on Twitter does make a good point about his release, btw...

They just threw his name out there on the same list as, for instance, 1st year safety Greco, getting the same standard "thank you for the years of service" as a guy who can't crack our roster. After his years of service, you'd expect a little something more.

One reason I could think of is maybe having him as on option at left guard just in case the guys who will be competing for the job don't work out.

Or if he is healthy again he would be one hell of a back-up at RT.

But by God Non-Stop if you are happy then that's all that counts.

TED DON'T YOU DARE EVEN THINK ABOUT RE-SIGNING MARK TAUSCHER, YOU DO AND YOU WILL HAVE TO ANSWER TO ME!!!!!!!!

Or perhaps they actually spoke to these men and didn't count on a press release as their sole means of communication...
