I think Tausher and Spitz could be done. Tausher didn't have his normal stuff last year when healthy and then has to come back from an injury as well. Spitz was coming from a back injury and didn't look like a shell of him old self. I think the depth chart is something like this... (before signing anyone)
Also I think the prefer norm is 7 OL on the active roster not 8. Someone who can play both OT position and someone who can play center... and one of them also backs up OG.
LT: Clifton, Sherrod
LG: Lang, Schlauderaff
C: Wells, McDonald, D-Smith, Genus
RG: Sitton, Battles, Dominguez
RT: Tausher, Campbell, Newhouse
If they don't sign anyone else I expect McDonald and maybe Sherrod to be the one to battle Lang at LG. But the question how much trust do they have in Lang? ... Mike McCarthy expressed disappointment in Lang not stepping it up this year after not being able to work out in the offseason due to surgery and not healing fast.
Genus and Dominguez are UDFA players this year and could rise on this board. And yes I did mean to put Campbell ahead of Newhouse.
I could be totally wrong about Newhouse but I have yet to see the upside... in last year training camp he wasn't quick/fast enough for to stop a good speed rush from a 3rd string guy and he's technique with his elbows/punch was horrible and didn't let keep a DT from powering into his chest... and rumor has it the Packers are looking at Newhouse as OT only... which from that I assume he hasn't fixed the technique because if he had I think he'd have more potential at OG.
Also at the end of the year normally all the Practice Squad guys get a development contract which Thompson doesn't like one year deals so he give them two year deals. Campbell surprising got a 3 year deal which might not mean anything... then again it could. I'm not sure but I think Campbell did get cut from the Packers practice squad at one point but then was brought back and got a 3 year deal? ... if correct to me it sounds like something is up. Maybe getting cut set him straight and he did very well from there on out?
In training camp last year Campbell was very heavy but didn't look at all like a normal heavy guy. He had surprising quick moving feet and could move very well for a guy with that much weight. He's problem is he was too high making it easy to bull rush and he wasn't physical getting knocked on his butt way too often. But if he learned to get and stay low and be more physical the kid has potential with those super quick feet for a very large guy.
