[stupid]

I don't think Uncle Ted will cut him for cap space. He will want some value, and I don't think we give him away on the cheap either.

I do think Barnett would have a hard time accepting a back up role.

why can't Bishop and Barnett compete for a starting job?

Then again, also on twitter he said he had a good dinner and great talk with KGB who also had to take a back-up role after not being as good stopping the run as he needed to be to keep the starting job. KGB still got his big money as a back-up and still helped the team even though he was no longer the starter.

That would be an expensive, divisive way to run a football team.

If we do end up keeping Barnett, I am positive that Dom will be able to find a way to use him. A third round pick would be acceptable compensation if traded. A better trade would be for a 3-4 defense to give us their 3rd OLB on the depth chart, so that we have a guy that can play this year.

The Packers would listen to trade offers for Barnett?

That is no more shocking than that I learned to hop one legged based on need. lol.

If the Packers keep Barnett.. he better learn how to pass rush from the edge.. opposite of Clay.. otherwise barring injury he has an uphill battle for extensive playing time.

Ever since the Packers got Barnett I always thought he'd do better on the edge than inside because of his speed. Then someone pointed out that Nick Barnett can not shed a block even if he was doused in Vaseline.

Personally.. he is a sideline to sideline "flow" type backer.. not many have the range he has overall.. but in the fray he just isn't at his best. IMO.

His best position is a WLB in a Tampa 2 defense. I doubt we trade him to TB, Chi, or Minnesota; where he'd flourish.

His salary makes him difficult to trade.

Getting anything would be a good thing.

If released, the Lions would sure want him.
