So by that reasoning Collins is the second leader since he's the other player whose tried out the headset?

I think the headset thing is more so because Barnett as the MLB can afford to roam around a bit before the snap, communicate with the D-Line and DBs.

Kinda hard to have Woodson with the headset when he's gotta worry about WR motions, etc.

Also kinda hard to give the headset to Kampman when he's gotta maintain his technique and keep good pad level to do his job properly.

The MLB is a convenient position to have the headset on.

Woodson and Barnett from what I'm hearing Barnett kind of takes charge with his personality and the defensive backs look up to Woodson more than anyone. Again this is just what I heard on the radio and elsewhere too. I would say that's a pretty good duo.

Guys like Harris, Kampman, and Hawk kind of lead by example.

I think it's easier to do it by position: Kampman, Barnett, and Woodson/Harris. However, if you had to ask me who I felt was the leader for the D overall, I would have to go with Barnett. He just seems to have leadership qualities, it's hard to explain.

Its pretty hard to tell for us..From the outside looking in. But from the outside..I have always assumed that it has been Nick Barnett. He has energy and guys seem to rally around him. I even thought that about Barnett when he was young. His rookie year i thought that he would soon be the leader of that defense. And he seems to have the personality to be a leader.

Barnett calls the defense and, I just read this today, Collins directs the secondary.
That is one of the reasons Rouse doesn;t start in place of Collins, because he is still learning how to direct the secondary.
