No chance? It's in the legislature as we speak, sparky. It's too early to say one way or another how it's gonna fair. Unless, of course, you are talking about the MN legislature. In that case, no matter the proposal it has no chance in hell.

Minnesotans are taxed at a very high rate, top ten in the country every year. Your state and local tax burden in 2009 was at 38.8%, 2nd highest in the nation, and those jackasses you elect want to increase that so the Vikings can play 8 games a year? I don't see it happening Formo, but start singing some Bon Jovi - Livin on Prayer.

Did you read my first post? The one that said essentially if one didn't want to pay for the stadium they didn't have to. The taxes on the stadium are spread out. Money isn't TAKEN from the public (unless when I say public, you hear a scratch off addicted, merchandise buyin' Viking employee who's getting paid more than $250,000 annually). No money will be taken from public coffers for this stadium.

So saying that those ass clowns (we agree on that) elected want to increase the state tax 'burden' to pay for a stadium is misleading at best.

In this difficult economic climate it would make more sense to expand U Minn field from the nearly 51,000 it currently holds to the 80,000 it can hold  instead of repairing the worthless Dumpty Dome or building a field soley for Vikings. And yes I know NFL teams like thousands of luxury boxes in order to stuff more into their pockets. But if they are not going to build the stadium their selves they need to take what is given to them.

There would be a lot of logistics that would go into that expansion. Not sure how it would work financially, but I know the U wouldn't give a penny to expand as it would probably hurt their football team's atmosphere.

The bill that's in the legislature now is a start, and a good one. It has a snow ball's chance to go through, though, without a site and stadium design inked and planned. I'm actually very surprised that there aren't any PSLs in it.. I would like to see more of that than new taxes (although like I said in previous posts, it's not like the taxes would burden anyone that didn't want to pay them).

All Zygi gets is a percentage of the gate and no concessions. If he don't like, buy him out, and set your team up like the Packers. Fvuck these asshole billionaires wanting taxpayer welfare.

Certainly there would be logistics. There will be that issue will any building project. There will even be logistics after the expansion is done. But 7 home college games and 10 NFL (incl preseason. post season won't matter as the U will be long done by then.) can be worked out.

My suggestion of sharing a stadium is after the good citizens of MN have turned the NFL down 3?-5? times already. It seems that building a "half stadium" that is shared and not left sitting empty 80-90% of the year would be move viable for people to get behind.

Yup, lets have a barely profitable business, build a huge new building that benefits the state just as much as it does the business, and foot the entire bill. Yup. Makes sense.

Anyway, I'd love it if Zygi paid the entire thing on his own. But why should he when the state doesn't even want the Vikings? I wouldn't if I were him either. It's a piss poor business move.

And in fact, because of Red McComb's completely moronic actions during his time as the Vikings' owner he actually did more harm than good for the Vikings drive for a new stadium.

I hear what you are saying. As a Gopher fan first and foremost, I can't say I'm for that type of plan, though. The Gophers have JUST gotten out of the Viking's shadows after 20+ years in the worst venue possible for both organizations.. They finally have something they can call home. Then, years after the Vikings turned down the U's proposal for a shared stadium, they come knocking? I for one wouldn't like it.

But if that's what it takes to keep the Vikes in MN. I guess I'd reluctantly accept it.

You actually think Zygi is the good guy in this situation don't you? The fact is right now your state government can't help even if they wanted to, because Minnesota is broke. Where are the private investors in your community Formo? Why isn't anybody stepping up to the plate? What about the wealthy corporations around that area like 3M?

For someone who takes such a staunch viewpoint on welfare and government funding, you sure are quick to want your state government to jump on board with this stadium. No, I stand by what I said, if the Minnesota state government goes in on this, then they should buy the whole thing and reap the profits from it too. The only thing Zygi should be to you guys is some rich east coast prick using your team. You think they love Model in Cleveland - you guys are in the same situation right now.
