I think the Browns were running a 3-4 very recently as well. I don't pay much attention to them so maybe they switched back last season.

New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Redskins, and Houston Texans all run some variation of a 3-4.

I think one or two teams may be switching BACK to a 4-3 again this year (ie. Denver). That sounds horrible to me. Switching to a 3-4 for two seasons and then straight back to a 4-3? Yikes.

I'm sure I've forgotten or misplaced one or two, but I'm pretty confident about half the league runs a 3-4. I know I've heard the guys on NFL Network say so more than a few times.

Some variation of a 3 -4, so then that makes it even harder to say a 3 - 4 DE is ... oh nevermind I won't go there. 🙂

Browns did run a 3 - 4, I believe because the Cowboys ran it previously and are going to do so continuing on. And I think their DC went to the Texans who will now run a 3 -4. I'm not sure though.

I thought the 49ers ran a 4 - 3 and completely spaced out about the Patriots and Chargers, duh!! I think the Cardinals are trying to run a blend of what the Steelers do, but I'm not positive on that one either.

I stopped reading when someone said Jenkins is the best 3-4 DE in the league and Haloti Ngata was left unmentioned.

I've always thought that Ngata lines up more at nose than anything else. In sub I'm sure he can be moved out, but if I'm not mistaken he is a nose tackle.

I consider Ngata the best overall D linemen in the league. He plays nose tackle, and the Ravens run a lot of 4-3 as well as 3-4. One 3-4 DE that is better than Cullen Jenkins is Richard Seymore, but right now, he's playing in a 4-3 in Oakland.

Some other good 3-4 DEs include Darnell Dockett and Justin Smith.

And to Z2C, you know I love you man. I'm actually kind of glad I could ruffle your feathers a bit, things have been pretty slow around here lately. At least this topic has brought some great discussion. :thumbleft:

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
