Good to hear. I've always liked him

I think a perfect trade partner would be the Denver Broncos, they are switching back to a 4-3 defense and would like to have a vet in the middle of that. I think Barnett acted up this year because Zero left Green Bay and now sees the Broncos switching to a 4-3 which was a better fit for him. So he figures if he acts up he can be reunited with Zero in Denver :)

Would be nice. I always enjoyed watching Barnett play but like Pack93z said, he's not a good fit for the 3-4. He was a pretty good, almost solid MLB when we were 4-3.

Back to Hawk, I'm glad we're keeping him long-term. Remember a few years back, MM talked about accountability and availability? Say what you will about Hawk, he plays every game. I think as a group, PH members put him Above Average but under Solid. I'm fine with that. But availability is huge, especially come Playoff time. That's when you hope as many as possible of the 22 men you started with are still starting. Hawk year after year starts every game.

He could probably improve but he's really playing a position where his responsibilities don't really produce stats.

However he has speed and has ability to shut gaps and stop the run or get outside quick.

But they produce the stats that matter - tackles. Woody led the team in solo tackles, Hawk led the team in combined tackles (including assists). No, Hawk won't be getting sacks like CM3 or picks like Collins or Woody, but we need someone to tackle the guy after the big 3 up front guys plug up the OL. That guy is Hawk, and he's better than average at it (and never misses a game).

Love that we hopefully have our starting three for years to come, throw in a draft pick to compete for the other outside spot and we could have one hell of a crew back there for years. Barnett in my mind is definitely gone, would love to see a trade but teams know we are planning on cutting him so they will wait it out.

Some people are too excitable. Too much Twitter and instant messaging.

Ted Thompson called the bluff and cut Hawk. Then his agent started to negotiate.

I would hate to play poker with Ted Thompson. He has balls of steel.

I will bet they were already well underway in negotiations when Hawk was cut. It was done not for negotiation leverage but as a matter of a legal safe guard just in case things drug out longer than midnite tonight.

I think you're all fucked in the head. 🙂 We're not getting anything for an injured 30 year old linebacker with 12M owed over the next 2 years. Mr. Barnett is getting cut and jumping the border over to Minnesota where he will blow numerous tackles as a member of the Queens.

If we got a 4th round pick, I would be truly amazed.

Ha! Who called it? Me. Yeah, that's right. *ahem*

Anyway, I'm actually kinda stoked that this might mean the end of Barnett's useless ass. Oh, ok. That's a little over-the-top...but still. Bye-bye!

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.
