Well that answers that question if they were going to ride out a guaranteed contract of that size.

So.. the next question is there an agreement in place to resign him to a more realistic deal?

Unrealistic/fan look- Crappy move. I enjoyed watching Hawk and Bishop play together. They made an incredible duo in the middle of the field (much better than with Barnett). Hawk had one of his best seasons in 2010.

On a more realistic look- Over $10 million is way too much for a single year and even AJ Hawk has to realize that. I don't think there will be a team in the league that is looking to fork that kinda money toward him, hopefully leading him back to his home in Green Bay.

I think the "shocker" comment is sarcastic, and I agree. I think the second link in this thread words it perfectly...and I agree with that as well. I hope they renegotiate and he stays. Probably what will happen. Who wouldn't want to be on the defending champions team?

I wouldn't have renegotiated that $10M either, had I been Hawk. I really hope we sign him back or else I have an authentic home jersey for sale. 🙂

Hard to see him return ... feel bad for the guy. I just hate parting ways with our draft picks. I really hope we can re-sign him for a more reasonable contract.

Packers also cut Donald Lee and Derrick Martin. I don't expect to see either of those guys back.
