I'm with you, I don't think it's likely he'll pay Hawk $10M. But, I didn't think he'd pay KGB either.

Ted has done some unexpected things. Whatever the result it will be the right decision. Hawk's agent is not the most cooperative.

Thompson has paid out big money before to guys like TE Bubba Franks and DE KGB when they had big number contracts. All the talk was he was going cut them if they didn't work out a new contract... and as it turns out Thompson just paid them their contracts until they could no longer play well enough to keep a roster spot.

I looked it up, and KGB made $6.15 million in 2008, which was his final season. That's a lot of money for a player who was losing his effectiveness, though he did have nine sacks in '07, and pass rushers cost money.

I still think $10 million for a very good but not great linebacker is just too steep. I hope they sign Hawk to a long-term deal that is more cap-friendly.

What was KGB contract other years? I thought he got something like 12 million one year.

All players cost money... not just pass rushers...

I won't be surprised if we give Hawk the $10M and I won't be surprised when he gets an extension after that. He's now the captain of the defense that just one the Super Bowl. I actually really like the guy because he just goes out and gets the job done without the need to be a jagoff like Barnett.

Believe me, we've wasted a lot of money over the years on dog shit like Joe Johnson, Clitorous Hunt, and Jamal Reynolds. Honoring Hawk's contract won't make me lose any sleep.

I can't remember who, but some one brought up the fact if you average Hawks contract out per year, it is not outrageous.

Probably not, but a figure as high as $10 million for the final year is generally included just for show. If they really wanted to pay him that kind of money, the big year would've been at or near the beginning, like in Woodson's original contract.

Pay the man or release him, there are plenty of NFL teams who would gladly have AJ Hawk on their roster.

Six years, $37.5 million, so that averages $6.25 mil per year.

If there's one who will pay him $10 mil/year, he's gone.
