Seems like the Williams wall will have to serve their 4 game suspension this year. Pat will probably retire. But that will still leave a giant hole next to the giant hole Edwards is going to leave.

lol Wait, wasn't it you Packer fans that was exclaiming how much of a wasted space Edwards was? Now he's going to leave a giant hole if he isn't resigned?

? Because once a team tags a player they aren't allowed to sign any other soon-to-be free agent?

No, it means they can't force them to stay in Minnesota. Edwards and Rice just got their "get out of jail free" cards so to speak. You can only tag one guy. Rice, Edwards and Greenway should have all been retained already, because you don't let your young talent get into the final year of their contracts. Don't you ever pay attention to how Uncle Ted operates? Tramon and Bishop were already resigned. The only guys on our team anybody is worrying about is Jenkins and Colledge and most of us are on the fence about it because their replacements are already on the roster.

The Vikings choose to blow money on free agents like Allen, Berrian, Favre, M. Williams instead of shoring up their roster through the draft and young talent. They have a tumultuous offseason ahead of them, and I wish you luck. Our teams have a tremendous difference in how they go about business.

Actually, they chose to hold off on resigning those guys early for extenuating circumstances.. Like Rice and his history of getting hurt (only one full year healthy), and with the lack of a CBA in place. They are merely playing the wait and see approach. You know, as are most other teams. Sidney isn't really worth the $10 million he'd get paid if they tagged him, what with the questions surrounding his hip and his injury potential. Chadly, on the other hand, is.

I laugh at the notion that says the Vikings haven't built their roster via the draft... Uhh.. DURRRR.. K-Williams, Cedric Griffen, Sidney Rice, Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, McKinney, Sullivan, Edwards, Chad Greenway, EJ Henderson, Chris Cook, Toby Gerhart, Guion, Robison, Sanford, Asher Allen, Brinkley, Erin Henderson, Tyrell Johnson, Loadholdt, Joe Webb. These are guys that have either significant play time or have started that I can think of off the top of my head that have been drafted.

Vikings have drafted well, but where they failed is at not finding a young QB to develop. The difference between the Packers and Vikings is Aaron Rodgers. Had the Vikes not when after Favre and focused on hitting on a young QB, they would be an outstanding shape. Beyond QB, they have drafted quite well, but not good as the Packers. I would put them in the top half of the league though.

Usually I restrain myself from giving predictions this early, but there is something I think that nobody else apparently believes.

NFC North
1. Packers
2. Lions

Those are the two-playoff teams from the North in 2011. Maybe a third gets in this year as well, but right now, I like the Lions to make it. I'm not kidding!

The guys in bold are decent players and they're pretty much all top draft choices except Sidney Rice and Sullivan. The rest of them wouldn't even make our roster. The Vikings have hardly "done a good job" in the draft. You have just as many players acquired via free agency: Hutchinson, Winfield, Allen, Fat Pat, Favre, Medieu Williams, Bernard Berrian. See my point, I'll refrain from the "uh duh" stuff.

I don't remember, but wasn't the Adrian Peterson pick some what risky? I think he's a dumbass who hurt himself doing a celebration type jump into the end zone.

I think he had a broken collar bone, which is kind of a tough injury for a running back. Hitting a home run with a top ten draft pick is not an example of good drafting. Getting a Donald Driver in the seventh round is.

Oh comon now. DD would have been a HR in any round. :thumbleft:

While I say it in jest as I am typing I am thinking he would have been a HR in any round. Next year when he breaks the record for most yards by a Packer receiver will validate it. Even a first round draft pick and HOF candidate may not set a teams receiving record for receptions or yards. It all depends on the circumstances.

Yeah Peterson broke his collarbone diving into the end zone in celebration during his Junior year. He also missed significant time his Sophomore year with a high ankle sprain.

I think I will withhold my predictions on next season more so than the average season.

With the CBA influx, too many of the elements of next season rosters are even more in the unknown state. Especially with RFA tenure and Franchise tags being targets in the CBA talks.

A Rookie cap will also impact the draft greatly, as the top 5 picks will more than likely have some trade value returned to them if the salaries of those picked becomes realistic again. If that is the case, it becomes a turkey shoot so to speak with trading blue/ red and white chip players being included in deals with teams looking for the next better than sliced bread player sitting on top of the draft boards.

That could have dramatic impacts on the roster landscapes come August.

So like I said.. I will withhold my guesses until some of these gray areas are colored in with more definition.

Now with that.. keep twisting Formo's nipples with the rebuilding talk. 😉

dfosterf (17m) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (18m) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (20m) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (23m) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (26m) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (26m) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (28m) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (30m) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (31m) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (1h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (1h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (1h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (2h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (2h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (2h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (18h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb

Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
