I think the decisions to switch this year have already been made. If the new DCs hired this year are 3-4 practitioners then their new teams will make the switch.

Next year could be interesting though.

Here is another question that was not mentioned in the article.
After watching both SB teams using the 3-4 defense, how many other teams will switch over to it this year or next year?

When the 3-4 is in the minority, one of its advantages is that DE/OLB types who would be tweeners in a 4-3 fit perfectly into the 3-4. But with half the league using the 3-4, those players are being sought by many teams, which makes it easier to get the bigger, more powerful pass rushers who can play DE in the 4-3. So it balances out.
