I'm thinking we're going to have a terrific competition at the RB spot next year... :)

Yes, this is a very good thing. :)

Now if only we'd have some terrific competition at OL next year....

(I might as well ask for unicorns to be real first).

Grant to start the season. I wouldn't be shocked to see Starks surpass him during the season, but I feel the more likely scenario is that Starks is the 2012 starter. Now saying all of that, I really like Grant, and could easily see him hold the job for the next few years with Starks providing a very good #2 punch.

Sure, Grant has more long TD runs. He also has a lot more runs, period. The sample size on Starks is still too small. I would be curious to see what proportion of Grant's and Starks' runs are for no or negative yardage. I would guess Grant's proportion is higher. I'd rather have a running back who consistently falls forward than a running back who consistently puts the team in 2nd- and 3rd-and-long situations but occasionally breaks off a long one.

Starks getting around 5 a carry against the Steelers was probably the best thing that the guy could have done for his career.

Don't look at the neg runs as solely being the fault of Grant. Most of his neg yardage plays were not his fault. There were a lot of blown assignments that caused those losses. he maximized as much as he could. He fell forward and got a -2 run when he was hit at -4 or -5. Who is to say that Starks would have gotten back to the line or gotten a positive yards. (stupid program changing what I type.)
The only thing that is for sure is GB should have a little depth at RB in 2011, if there is a 2011.

Grant hits the line of scrimmage at full speed. I don't remember him getting tackled behind the line that much. You might be thinking of B-Jack.

Grant takes one cut and he's gone. Really good for our style of O.

I do agree with you that the sample sizes are small. Let's revisit this next year.

Ouch. So that's why Grant seems to fall down so easily. His fault for running into the backs of his own linemen, I guess.
