The Patriots have 3 of the top 33 picks in this draft. That's pretty scary.

I can't believe you all are missing the most ridiculous comment in the article, "The Packers, a good team but hardly a world-class team, might have reeled themselves in as much as the Bears rallied to make it a game."

Really??????????????????????

Thanks for finding that stuff. Six picks in the first 3 rounds. Wow. Ted Thompson would be creaming himself if he had that. This could definitely be dangerous.

I don't find it to be such a preposterous statement. The Packers are hardly a "world-class" team, especially considering how many players on this team who were thrust into key roles would have been considered scrubs on other squads. Also, Mike McCarthy is frequently criticized -- on this board, if nowhere else -- for his propensity to become conservative in his playcalling when the Packers have a lead. Quite a few people were protesting the plethora of runs called in the second half, when the Bears were stuffing the run and the Packers only had a one-possession lead.

If you're going to react so strongly to the statement, you should at least provide a reasoned rebuttal to it.

I see your point Nonstop but when a team is in the SB, aren't they, by definition, considered world class? They're one game away from world champions! He did say "team" afterall and by my standards, ALL the players/coaches/admin make up the team, including new hires, IR, etc.

The Green Bay Packers team is world class, and any one who says different I take take exception to.

In any other case, I would say "and rightfully so," but not really in this game. We honestly weren't passing all that much better, so what it comes down to is pick the lesser evil. For me, that is the play that runs the clock down no matter what (assuming Starks stays inbounds) instead of relying on a catch being made to keep the clock running.

So the 9-7 Arizona Cardinals were "world class"? If the Seahawks had somehow made the Super Bowl this year, would they have been "world class" despite their losing regular-season record? The Bucs had the same record as the Packers this year, and had they not been in the NFC South, might easily have made the playoffs. Why are they not "world class"? Were the 11-5 Patriots from a couple of years ago not world class simply because they had the misfortune of being in the wrong division? For that matter, were the 18-1 Patriots not world class because they failed to win it all, and were the Giants more world class than they?

The Green Bay Packers team is world class, and any one who says different I take take exception to.

So you believe that if the Packers were pitted against, say, the Patriots or Falcons, they would win a majority of times?

I think you're ignoring a lot of contextual aspects -- not to mention a certain measure of luck -- in making your sweeping statements.

Obviously, I would consider any team that made it to the Super Bowl to be world class! They beat the teams that they had to beat and earned the right to be there. It's not a question of opinion, it's a statement of fact.

My opinion is that that Packers can beat any team in the NFL this year and certainly earned the right to be in the Championship. If the writer wants to argue that the Bears were beaten by an second (or lower) tiered team, let him! I don't have to agree. This isn't Russia.

Maybe it's just a matter of semantics. I know what you're saying about a team that makes it to the Super Bowl being "world class" by definition, but what the author is getting at is that the Packers are not one of those juggernaut-type teams that comes along every few years and just rolls through the season and the playoffs. The Packers clearly have some flaws. Because the author is writing from a Bears' fans perspective, he's not worried about giving the Packers their due for reaching the Super Bowl.
