I think this is a Ted Thompson money deal.
The Packers will give Rip every chance to step into Kuhn's spot. If he can't cut it after Week 1, they will sign Kuhn.
I believe as a vested veteran, if Kuhn is signed after Week 1 his salary isn't guaranteed.

loved the guy all the years, but its time to bring in a fresh young guy who can get maybe more then less then a yard on 3rd or 4th and 1

plus in this cap era it makes sense !!
