The worse thing the Bears could do after Sundays 21-14 loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship Game is think they were that close to winning the NFC Championship.

If that's the worse thing they could do, then what's the worst thing?

I hope the Bears give Hanie a genuine chance to compete for the starting job next year. It would bring me much pleasure to watch Cutler beat out by the third-stringer who supplanted him in the biggest game of either of their lives.

Personally, I think Detroit is going to be the biggest contenders the Packers have to deal with for the next few years. I also don't think Minnesota is going to be as bad as some people think too. Leslie Frazier will turn that around. I expect Chicago to be down for the next two seasons. Their roster is not that good and they have some regressing players to deal with. They overachieved and got lucky a lot this year. Now, every team gets lucky, as do the Packers. Nonetheless, I suspect tough times for the Bears.

The article makes it sound like Chicaco is a disaster. A disaster doesn't have a season like they did.

But it did end in disaster. :)

Regardless of their season, Chicago was still doubting the Bears as being what their record read.
Chicago is a hot mess right now. They don't have a 1st rounder this offseason either I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

You're wrong.

The only team without a 1st round this year so far is Oakland. They traded it to New England for Richard Seymour.

The only thing they don't have is a 7th rounder, since they used it in the supplemental draft.

The Patriots have 3 of the top 33 picks in this draft. That's pretty scary.

I think the Bears will end up exactly like the Vikings. A championship game one year, last in the division the next. The Bears never really looked great any time this year and when they couldn't keep us out of the playoffs i didn't think they would win their first playoff game. By the grace of god they got the worst team to ever make the playoffs in their first game.
Our attention has to be Detroit, they are coming on strong and could be a threat for years to come.

I was intrigued by this statistic:

The Packers have 19 touchdown drives of 75 yards or longer this season. The Bears have four.

That's ridiculous.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.
Zero2Cool (27-Jan) : Packers coach Matt LaFleur hires Luke Getsy as senior assistant, extends Rich Bisaccia's deal

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
